Question about HP Pavilion dv4000 Notebook

Battery/configuration/ Hi, I have had this hp pavilion dv 4000 for 2 years (bought it new) and I noticed that If I disconect the mains from the laptop, the screen goes blank, but the pc stays on. If I connect the mains back, the image doesn't come back, so I have to switch the pc on and re-start it. If I start the pc without mains, just running from the battery, it shows the boot up process, the logo of windows, but then stays black and doesn't start up as normally does In the 2 years I didn't use much the baterry, so I really wonder what is wrong? thanks

    I tried the check of batteries as you said but that didn't solve the trouble, BUT I thank you for the tip on HP webpage to check battery life. I downloaded, and The checks is promissing, The battery appears "good" codition, 100% charged.

    I tried unplugging the mains and start the lap top in save mode and it works, but if it is in NORMAL MODE the monitor goes blank, even though appears to be on.

    The screen changes as when the monitor goes to "stand by" but it just doesn't come back to normal after moving mouse, or try control alt sup etc.



    I checked the energy management, using any of the options, it happens :(



    Any idea what can be??

    The last of the choises worked!!..

    I unstalled the display adapter and restarted. I checked the 2 choises on the display properties but wouldn't work...



    I am very very happy!!!

My name is Vikram Kumar Thumu, from India-Hyderabad. I have seen your message on the issue . I would like to provide my suggestions on the issue. I hope that this should work for you and will resolve the issue.

well, the issue seems to be with Battery , it is not working properly any more. or it could be an issue with Battery drivers in PC.

To isolate the issue, I recommend you to try below steps. This will resolve the issue .

Step 1: Connect Battery and Also AC power adapter, try to charge the Battery for around 6 hours. Make sure that notebook is idle for 6 hours, do not try to run any application . Just let notebook be ON for 6 hours with AC power with Battery in, so that battery gets charged up.

Step 2 : Once if you are done with 6 hours of Charge, now disconnect the AC Power. Restart PC and let the PC run on Battery only. Check out how much time PC is able to run on battery. If PC powers ON properly with battery and runs around 40 minutes then it confirms that Battery is fine else if PC do not startup properly or if it works less than around 30 minutes on battery then it confirms that it is an issue with Battery. If found fault with battery then try step 3 process.

Step 3 :  To check Health of Battery

    Hello,





    Yes, we can try furtherr troubleshooting steps.



    I recommend you to go Device manager in your PC, and try the following things as below:



    1. Locate to Battery Drivers in Device Manager, and once if you found it please right click on the driver and select the option " uninstall" and then try to restart the PC.



    2. Now, check the issue after restart of PC. If the issue still persists then please again go to device manager and locate to Battery driver again and right click on it, try to update it.  It only updates the driver if there is any update available on driver on HP web site. else it does nothinhg.



    3. Further, if the issue still persits then please locate to Display Adapters, in device manager and locate to Display drivers and ory to uninstall it and restart the PC.



    4. It reinstalls the drivers once if you restart the PC and then check the issue.



    I hope by these steps, this should resolve the issue. If the issue still persists then please let me know I'll tell you further more steps on the issue.

HP DV600 laptop doesn't turn on even on mains.


It sounds like your ac adapter has died, and thus is not charging the battery back up. Test the adapter for power output. If it isn't working, the only option is to purchase another.

If the laptop runs on batter but cannot run on the AC adapter, you have a broken DC Jack. If you laptop cannot power up with the battery or flash low battery indicator, you laptop is dead.
