Well, as far as there are still TV transmitters in your region, it should be possible with your set. For the type of areal, you'll have to find out if the transmissions are on the VHF or the UHF bands. At least, here in Belgium, there are no transmissions anymore. Everything is cable-tv or sattelite. And you need the original remote control from the set, otherwise you cannot get into the setup pages.

Philips powervision tv my tv tuner pin is broken

You're discussing about the input socket [Ariel socket] to your TV is broken; I assume, and posts this solution. In most cases, this is a irreparable fault; because, this socket is directly connected to the tuner, and is a part of tuner body [case]. If it is broken, the the tuner should be replaced with an identical one. You should check out the number of the tuner used with your TV; can be noted on it by a sticker. Just buy that number tuner, and replace it. The tuner can be bought from most of the electronic spare part selling shops.

this is because most new lcd tv's have a poor tuner built in and require a stronger ariel, to pull in the analogue or digital signal. Check that your ariel is freeview capable whether using freview or not, as these ariels are better at pulling in the signal, or do what i have had to do and buy a mains plug in signal booster from Asda for about £6.00, this did the trick, especially if you don't want to replace an ariel costing about £30.00
