I have replaced my motherboard in my Windows 2000 Server machine with an Intel D945GCNL motherboard and it failed to boot with a complaint that the BIOS was not ACPI Compliant.

I then swapped out the system disk and tried to do a new install and when the installer trys to start Windows 2000, it fails with the same error.

As these motherboard are specially designed for windows xp so it does not supports to install windows 2000... these motherboard recommends only windopws xp,sp2 or higher versions than that like windows2003,media center edition, vista ... so we cant install windows 98 or 2000 and all ... so upgrade ur pc to win xp sp2 that s best

Same problem, when doing F7 it gets past the ACPI dump but hangs on Win2K setup. Intel doesn't support Win2K with this board.

Hello,

I am Vikram Kumar Thumu from India-Hyderabad. I have seen your message on the issue related to the error message related to the ACPI during the installation of Windows 2000 on your PC. I would like to provide my suggestion on this issue.

PROBLEM: During Windows installation the system displays a blue error screen reporting that the BIOS is not suitable for use with ACPI.

Solution :

If your system reports this error then reboot it and wait for the prompt about pressing F6 (to use other mass storage devices). At this point press F7 (not F6) so that setup will install APM power management in place of ACPI power management. Installation should then continue to completion successfully.

I hope this should resolve the issue for you.

If you need any further assistance on the issue, you can mail me at thumuvikram@rediffmail.com, I'll be glad to assist you.

Bye...

I have a intel d945gcnl board. My computer restarts when it used upto 30 mb graphic memory.

Hi, you can try to upgrade the graphic driver from here:

Remember to select your operating system.

You can also try to add more memory ( ram )
to your system.

Or you can add a better graphic card

PCI Express x16 connector

Hope this will help you.

Do you have the correct version of Windows for INTEL based x86 processors?
Either that or you may need to update your BIOS software for that.

Problem istalling windows 2000 professional on a pc with intel d945gcnl motherboard

try to make bios settings default and make a proper installation

The bios in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. Please contact your system vendor for an updated bios. If you are unable to obtain an updated bios or the latest bios supplied by your vendor is not ACPI compliant, you can turn off ACPI mode during text mode setup. To do this, simply press the F7 key when you are prompted to install storage drivers. The system will not notify you that the F7 key was pressed - it will silently disable ACPI and allow you to continue your installation."
