SOURCE: Cannot use the continious numbering of photos.

As annoying as that certainly is, the camera is actually functioning as designed. The reset number applies when there are still photos on the camera. If you have 10 pics on the camera, then activate the reset feature, then picture #11 will be called IMAG0001, even though it's the 11th picture being taken. With a clean slate and no pictures to start with, the camera only knows to start at 0001, simply by default. Hope this helps.

What is the setting on my Canon powershot A470 camera to upload pictures?

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries. Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use iPhoto or any other photo cataloging program.

How do I set the resolution on my Canon SD850?

The instructions for changing the resolution are on page 30 of the manual.
If the pictures are fuzzy, increasing the resolution won't help. The most likely causes of fuzzy pictures are as follows
1) Focus. Check to make sure the focus is on the subject. If something else in the picture is sharp while others are not, then the camera may have focused on the wrong subject.
2) Subject motion. If moving objects are fuzzier than stationary objects then you need to use a faster shutter speed (or flash).
3) Camera motion. Just because the camera is on a tripod doesn't mean it doesn't move. One philosophy says that if a tripod is light enough to be carried then it's not sturdy enough. For a compact camera like the SD850 that likely isn't the problem. However, you can still shake the camera when you press the shutter release button. Try setting the self-timer. This allows time for the vibrations to die down before snapping the picture.
In your particular case, I think we can assume that the subject isn't moving, so #2 doesn't apply. To assure proper focus, make sure the painting is flat and perpendicular to the lens axis. If the painting is tilted relative to the camera, then different parts of it will be at different distances and the camera won't be able to keep all of it in focus.
Also, make sure the front of the lens is clean.

I have my canon a470 digital camera, recently i had a problem with my cam, while taking any picture it showing fully white screen pictures not at all viewing properly as well their is a white lines are...

This sounds like there is a problem with your camera's shutter mechanism and won't be resolved by changing your settings. You'll have to get your unit serviced by an authorized Canon service center. Hope this helps!

By mistake I took a photo with the "landscape"

Once the picture is recorded, it's recorded. You can edit it in the usual way.

Keep in mind that the scene modes merely give the camera a hint as to what you're taking a picture of so it can adjust the shutter speed and aperture appropriately. The camera doesn't know what you're taking a picture of. You can go ahead and shoot landscapes in the portrait mode or portraits in the landscape mode, and the camera won't care.

Setting date and time on photo

As long as the current date and time are set correctly, the camera will always store the date with the picture. If you want to print the date with the picture, please refer to the documentation for whatever program you're using for instructions.

Dark pictures

There are several possibilities.

1) The camera store screwed up, and your photos are just fine. Have you looked at the photo files on your computer?

2) You accidentally set the camera into manual mode and with settings that don't work for the light. How do the photos look when you preview them on the camera?

3) This is the most likely problem: It sounds like you have accidentally set the "exposure compensation" value. This setting is used to help correct the exposure when shooting a scene that should be mostly white (e.g. in the snow, or bright sand at the beach) because otherwise the camera will make the scene be "medium gray". Check your user manual for instructions on how to set the exposure compensation and make sure it is set to 0.

If your photos are too dark when viewed on the computer and the preview screen, and EV is set to 0, then your camera may have a faulty light meter. If so, you need to send it in for repair under the warranty, or return it to the place of purchase as defective and see if they will exchange it for you.
