Question about Gateway Computers & Internet
I have a pny 16gb flash drive which worked just the other day but now when i insert it into a usb port on my gateway T6815 laptop it will make the noise that a usb device has been plugged in, but it wont show up in either windows explorer OR disk management.....when i unplug the device it makes the sound that the device has been removed, but still no matter which of the three ports i plug in to it isnt recognized and it isnt showing up in device manager as either a problem device or an unknown device

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Two solutions would be to either restore your pc to before the problem started, using system restore on accesories menu, or use the recovery cd or the recovery folder Acer laptops usually have on the 'D' drive and re-install usb controllers and drivers.

SOURCE: Aspire 3610 USB ports
I think you might have a loose cononection for the data ports. Try putting a little bit of force on the usb device. Up, down left right. NOT ALOT. If it starts working when force is used, i tihnk you should try to take it apart and resolder the connections. If it dosen't work, uninstalling the driver and installing.

SOURCE: Usb ports do not work
Try going into device manager and deleting the USB devices, Reboot and let Windows try and reinstall the drivers. If that doesn't fix your problem post that it didn't work and I'll get another message.

SOURCE: usb device not recognize
You mentioned that you uninstalled the unknown device from the Device manager. If you uninstall it then connected your usb flash drive you will see an error again on your device manager. This means that the driver for your usb port is not properly installed.
To install it, visit dell website, look for the model of your machine and locate the driver, download it then install from your machine.
