Question about Zyxel ZyAIR G-4100 Wireless Router (ZYAIRG4100)
I know my access address, but I have multiple tabs to go through to configure the subnet mask and DCHP? I'm only mildly experienced at fixing these things. I just need to know whether to enable authentications and other choices. Also, I'm not sure whether my modem needs to be plugged into the laptop or the router to get started. I cannot get the router's log-in screen to appear.Maybe because I don't have my connections right..I learned the router has been discontinued, but I think with a bit of guidance, I can get it back on line. Thanks for any help!

Typically you plug the computer into one of the numbered available ports on the router - and plug the wire from the modem in the WAN port connection. You should then be connected. you may need to restart your compute but typically this is dynamic. Open a web browser and just goto Google.com and see if the page displays. You can open a CMD window and type ipconfig and you will get the ip address of where you can use a browser to log in to the console. The default Gateway IP address is the web console of the modem, you would type that into a web browser. You will need to know the default id and password - if you know this already and you are in the console - there is not much else you should actually touch. You can view these tutorials as well.

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

On the reverse of the router is a recessed button. Use a pen or pin/paperclip to push this in (while the router is powered on) for around 10 seconds. All the lights should flash off and then start to come back on. This will restore the factory settings, default IP 192.168.1.1, system password 1234.
If the IP still does not work, click stat/run and type CMD. Hit OK, when you get the black screen, type 'ipconfig' (without quotation marks) and press enter. Make a note of the 'default gateway', and type that into Internet Explorer. If this doesn't work, reply to this. Ta.
Hope this helps.
