Frankly, if you are unsure how to adjust your truss rod, take it to your nearest guitar repairman. You can cause a lot of harm to your guitar if you do it wrong. Ask the repairman if you can watch what he does so perhaps you will be comfortable trying it yourself the next time.

SOURCE: which string used for epiphone gibson lea paul special II guitar

This is really a personal choice as long as the strings are made for an electric guitar there are hundreds of different kinds, it mostly has to do with the thickness of the strings and how the thinner the string the easier it is to manulipulate, you should go to a good music store and tell them what type of music you play and they will give you some choices.

SOURCE: how do i choice to buy a custom epiphone les paul

If you are on a limited budget then get a standard Epiphone Les Paul. The Custom is not much better. If you have a little more to spend then I recommend getting a new or used Gibson Les Paul Studio.

Narrowing down which guitar to buy is completely opinion-based. You need to try multiple guitars to find one you like best since they all feel a little different.

Strings too far from fretboard

What you are describing is normally referred to as 'high action'. There are a couple of reasons this can occur (I'm assuming that the bass is not broken in any way). Either the neck is bowed forward too much, or the bridge saddles are set too high. If you have recently changed strings to a thicker gauge then the neck bow will need to be adjusted to compensate for the increased tension. If you are not experienced it can be risky attempting to adjust the truss rod by yourself so only proceed if you are happy with the risk!

On the headstock, just behind the nut is the truss rod cover. Remove the screws and cover. Underneath will be a nut, or bolt depending on the instrument. Allen key bolts are most common, but some use a regular nut. Make sure you have exactly the right size tool before you start! With the strings at pitch, make a 1/4 turn clockwise (tightening). Retune the strings and check the action. If it has moved but not enough then try another 1/4 turn. If it has not made any difference then you may need to seek the help of a pro, as the truss rod could be broken.

Again: don't try unless you can afford to risk breaking something! If in doubt take it to your local pro guitar shop and they should be able to help.

Takes a standard 'Allen Key' hexagonal wrench (I'm not sure of the size for your specific guitar but most are around 5 or 6mm)

B string flat up to 4th fret

You need to set the intonation. There are videos on Youtube on how to setup a guitar. Avoid doing anything to the truss rod. Search YouTube for "guitar setup". If it will not setup, you might need to replace the string.

Sounds like your truss rod needs to be adjusted. This should only be done by a professional. Take your guitar to a shop or guitar store that offers a service like this.

If you really want to do this yourself, though, here's a helpful video that will take you step by step through this:
Hope that helps!

You need to adjust the controls for the nano on the control cavity plate on the back of the guitar the way you want them first. Here is a link to a simplified explanation:http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Les-Paul/Epiphone/Les-Paul-Standard-Ultra-II.aspx A better explanation should be in the manual but I don't think they did as good of a job as they should have.

Here is a link to their standard manual:http://www.epiphone.com/images/EpiOwnrsManul.pdf Pay attention to Intonation and Saddle Adjustment for a Tune-O-matic bridge. They come adjusted but you may have to adjust if you change the guage of your strings.

Truss rods and dead frets- how do I adjust the guitar so the strings are close to the neck without getting dead frets?

I own an Epiphone Casino and if I needed to adjust the truss rod I would take it to a luthier (stinged instrument repair person). There is a good write up on it here. http://www.fretnotguitarrepair.com/trussrods.htm

Hope this helps.
