SOURCE: The top spool of thread jams tight when I pull the

It sounds like the tension setting is too tight. The tension mechanism consists of two metal disks; the thread runs between these disks. When the pressure foot is down, the disks come together, trapping the thread between them. When the pressure foot is up, the disks separate and the thread can flow freely. (BTW, this is why you adjust the tension with the pressure foot down.)

Take a look at your tension setting and try loosening it. That should resolve the problem.

Let me know if this helps, ok?

SOURCE: Janome Rx 18S just purchased one second hand online and 1 of the spool pins are broken off. What was the purpose of the 2nd one and where can I find a replacement?

they are only used if your sewing with double needles to hold the
other spool of thread,, most people just buy a thread holder to set
at the back of their sewing machine
here's a link for one for the machine, but a generic spool or cone
holder is just as good,

It doesn't sound quite right to have to remove the back cover to replace the spool pin. Most metal pins just pull out or push in, although there are some that the pin has a screw thread. But my older Berninas have a smooth metal pin. Just a thought...

Do not know how to replace spool pin and spool cap

It looks like it might just snap into place. Of course that means you have to remove the broken bits which may require a drill, small bit and needle nose pliers.

I need two parts for a model jem 639. One is the "spool pin & the bobbin winder spindle

you could try www.sewingpartsonline.com or http://www.sewingparts.co.uk/

have you tried ringing the Janome head office in your country? or on line you can search for a local dealer at this page http://content.janome.com/index.cfm/FindaDealer

they should be able to order these parts for you and fit them if necessary.
