SOURCE: Waste Toner Full/ Not Install
Behind the little container for the waste toner there is a sensor that senses whether the toner basket is full or not. If the sensor itself is dirty, it can give a false reading. First try cleaning out the area under the container to see if the switch works. Also make sure the container is clean, because the sensor works by sight, so if it looks full because it's dirty, it will give a false reading. I have heard of people disabling that sensor in various ways, but that can get dangerous to the printer. I can't recall the details on that exact model, but I believe there is a diagnostic of some sort that can test that sensor to make sure it works right to begin with.

Couple of things to try: - If you just emptied the waste cartridge then you have to take the bottle back out and clean the insides as well. The sensor sees the toner on the walls and still thinks it?s full. FYI as typical the manufacturer recommends replacing the bottle with a brand new one. - If not that then you may have toner covering the optical sensor. Try blowing the area where the waste bottle attaches to the printer with canned air. Let us know if you have any other questions and please don?t forget to rate this post.

If the copier indicated to empty the waste toner you will have to reset in the counter in service mode. Press the additional functions key, the 2 & 8 keys at the same time, then the additional function key again. This should get you into service mode. If not depress the reset key and try again. Once there at the top right you will see counter. Depress it then you should see a menu and depress MISC. Depress WST-TNR, then depress "C" on keypad. Counter should go to all 0's. I think that the waste toner message displays at 250,000 copies made.

Open up the toner cover, undo the screw.
Then on the flat surface under the paper delivery tray there is a round cutout , remove this little cover to reveal a screw, undo this and slide the front cover off to the left. The waste toner bottle is now visible.
