You may have a broken gear or feed motor.

First off make sure the ribbon turns freely.Take off the ribbon and turn the ribbon wheel in the direction of the arrow and see if it turns smoothly. If it turns smoothly the ribbon motor is not moving or the gear is not moving. take off the ribbon and type. See if the black ribbon drive gear on the ribbon deck moves as you type. If not the motor is N.G. or the ribbon gear clutch spring is not grabbing the gear to turn it. Lawrence

Befor you put a nrw motor in try a few drops of light oil on the m

Type on a two part form if the carbons are goog then you have a ribbon problem. Look at the ribbon. Do the letters overlap (ribbon feed) If they don't fall in a line near the center of the ribbon (ribbon lift) Check for folds in the ribbon.

Older IBM Wheelwriter 1500 typewriter won't print

First put in a milti part form or a carbon, type, if it prints in the copy your ribbon isn't lifting, if this is the problem put some WD40 ON THE UPPER AND LOWER RIBBON MOTOR, IT IS just below the ribbon deck on the right. If there is no print the print solenoid cap is probably broken.

We sell the cap for 20.00 includes instructions and shipping.

Ribbon replace on ibm selectra 2

Lift top cover up.
Move the carrier to center of machine.
On the right hand side of the carrier there is a red lever. slide it to the left.
( it will lift ribbon arm's up & move the ribbon drive mecanisem out of the way.)
you now can lift the ribbon cassett out of the machine,
put the new ribbon in the machine.
there is a wire with a white plastic roller around it on the left side of carrier. make sure the ribbon goes on the out side of the that wire.
put the ribbon throuugh the lift arms
turn the knob on ribbon till the colored led is in to the ribbon cassett + a few turns of the black ribbon is around the spool.
slip the red lever to the right.
close cover & try typing
hope it works for you

Wheelwriter 5 not printing

The print solenoid is under the ribbon just inside the L. printer side frame. When you type with the ribbon off you should see the plunger go in and out (a very short movement) on the back of the plunger is a plastic cap (clear to yellow from age) if the plunger moves and the yoke dosen't move or just bobbles a bit this is broken it is available from us for 15.00 includes shipping butcan be a little to install.
