Normally when you experience this problem this indicates that you have an engine malfuntion. your engine will not want to accelerate and give you unstable accelaration like jerking every so often.

I had this problem before with my Chysler van and I located the problem to the Exhaust Gaz Recycling unit located on the exhaust manifold. This unit allows the unburned gas of the exhaut to be burned again. It is a valve that is activated by the oxigen sensor.
I took the defective EGR apart and found that the diode connected across the activating coil that operates the valve to be defective. It is an expensive part for some to replace but do not attempt to replace it by a used one...otherwise your problem will reoccur. A good car dealer should be able to analyse your problem by checking your engine with his analyser/trouble shooter.

Replace you EGR valve (Exhaust Gas Recyling).

This unit is located on the engine exhaust gas manifold and is controlled by the Oxygen Sensor which operates the EGR valve to open or close to burn the unburned gas of the exhaust in the manifold. Is it part of your anti-polluton system.

Your Chrysler dealer will be able to assist you in doing your engine analysis with his computer and tell you the same thing I just said.

I had the same problem before with my Chrysler van and it was the EGR causing my accelerating problem and giving me erratic engine while travelling .The engine light would flash when this malfuntion occurs.

Get this done and your engine problems will be gone

    Good luck

Your car is misfiring. You should not drive the vehicle while it is misfiring. If you want to DIY it you can start with you ignition system. Make sure all spark plugs, plug wires, and ignition coils are secure and in good condition.

While merging onto the highway when my car hit 3 and 4th gear the engine seemed to "stutter/misfire" during harder acceleration. Check engine light also flashed briefly during hard acceleration. Dur

Could be a transmission problem or something as simple as bad spark plugs.
The engine is under the most load when RPM is low and you are trying to accelerate, such as when it upshifts.
You should have the computer checked for trouble codes and hopefully that will point you in the right direction to test.
If the spark plugs have more than 50,000 miles of wear you might start with replacing them.

There has to be a loose connection somewhere. Being pulled apart under hard acceleration. Do you have any OBDII codes stored? This will lead you to your fault. Hope this helps...

Cuts off at 70mph when accelerating.

Best thing to do is go to an Auto Zone and have them scan your truck for any DTC codes. Auto Zone scan free of charge, there is just to many things that can cause the engine issues your running through such as detonation during acceleration due to timing issues to lack of fuel pressure. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help you get your truck running 100%
