Question about Sony KDS-R50XBR1 50" HDTV
I have a Sony Projection tv and i need to replace the the lamp,my manual only tells me how to get the houseing out of the tv and how to put it back into the tv,i need to know how to get the lamp out of the houseing and how to put the new lamp in.
I just did this myself. I'm a novice but it wasn't that hard. Your choices are to purchase a complete unit including the casing from a Sony repair shop for around $250, or just replace the lamp.
I just replaced the lamp and saved $130.
I just removed the screws from the side of the casing that protect the lamp. I disconnected the contact points and then popped open the housing.
Remove the screws and the nut that attach to the lamp. Wear gloves when you handle the new lamp so you don't shorten the lifespan of the bulb.
re-attach all the screws and slide it back in.
It took me the longest to have line up the contact points when sliding it back into the TV. Make sure all the connections are snug and keep at it. Don't give up! I'll admit I was tempted!
