I have Sony DVD RW AWQ170A as my CD/DVD drive and Win XP as the operating system. I had burned a DVD R/W(Moser Baer) on a different PC and tried to open it on my PC. Sony DVD RW AWQ170A is not able to recognise that DVD whereas it is recognising other DVDs of movies etc. When i tried to open DVD R/W(Moser Baer) on a different PC it is working fine. Please help me with this problem.

I have a windows XP operating system.
I had purchased this device and it was not opening ( very often ) DVDs other than Sony..... I given it for replacement to Sony Service Center through my local vendor. After 15 days the Drive arrived at his shop from Sony Service Center ( as stated by him ) . It had problems as before. But it worked fine with Sony DVDs. Now I was purchasing and burning data only on Sony DVDs. I had also mailed this problem to the Sony Tec support but never got a reply. Today it is opening only CDs and not a single DVD can be accessed by this device. I have seen similar problems for this model purchased by a few of my relatives and friends.

I Googled to find out that more people have such problems with this specific model. I was searching for a driver which can fix this problem. Seeing these problems, many people are purchasing such products from other manufactures.

And if u know someone from Sony, pls inform them that we pay more for Sony Products and answering to problems is the least thing they can do!

And in future, I will definitely think for other options before buying a Sony product!

Thanking all of you in advance. :)

The Recorder doesn't read DVDs in XP while the same recorder reads it in 98.
