Question about Sony PlayStation Video Game Consoles & Games
It may be a bad power supply or bad power cord. If you just bought it and it is brand new just go back to were you got it from and exchange it for a new one. If the store doesn't help you then it does have a 1 year warranty on it and you can contact Sony directly and they will set you through the process to get it fixed.

SOURCE: ps3 will not turn on
Your playstation is oficially broken and needs to either be replaced or repaired. Sony will fix this problem for $150.00 through their website(under warranty its free). This problem happened because it overheated and the soder melted to the point where the componets shut down and the unit went into safe mode :( :(

If it s Green, then YELLOW not a lighter shade of green, then red, then you my friend have got the YLOD (Yellow Light Of Death). there are multiple fixes for this. I myself have suffered the YLOD. This fix here is the most popular. Please be careful when attempting this type of fix as you could damage your system further. WARNING!!!!! This method should only be attempted by those familiar with the inner workings of a PC or equivalent. This should not be attempted by those with little to experience with micro electronics. WARNING!!!!!
I take no responsibility for anyone trying this method to repair the YLOD nor does the creator of the video or YouTube.

With your PS3 turned off, press and hold the Power button on the front of the PS3 for about 10 seconds (the system will beep as normal as it starts up but after 7-10 seconds it will beep again). The video settings should now be reverted. Doing this will also reset any theme settings. try this? seems to fix alot of issues.
