I have a 2000 Oldsmobile silhouette mini van done replaced the thermostat but its still running hot

Your engine is notorious for having the intake manifold and gaskets go bad. If you are loosing water pull the #3 spark plug in the morning, when the engine is cool and see if there is moisture on the plug. If so you will need to have the top of the engine torn down, and at the least, change the intake gaskets.

Car is running hot and I put a new thermostat in and water bump

make sure the radiator cooling fans are coming on. GM has also had major problems with the lower intake gaskets leaking on the V-6 engines. sometimes when refilling the cooling systems air lock can occur. run the engine until it warms up and then turn off and let it cool down, if coolant level goes down repeat this process two or three times. other causes could be clogged radiator, or worse case scenario blown head gaskets. also i have on occasion got bad thermostats from the parts store. the upper radiator hose will get very hot when the thermostat opens. run the engine and hold the upper hose and when the t-stat opens the hose will get hot. then when the cooling fan comes on hot air will rush from from the fans. if the fans come on and the air is cool then there is a circulation problem. t-stat, clogged radiator, low coolant, head gaskets. good luck.

1994 ford tours runing hot.replaced water

If you had a crack in your head you should be losing water inside/outside the engine, the same with a head gasket, check for water running down the outside of block and the exhast for excess water discharge, I know will sould stupid but did you insert the thermostat in the correct way? spring facing downwards?. The only other thing i can think of is if you have a collapsed rubber hose somewhere.

The cooling fans on my Grand Am GT1 do not go on causing the car to run hot.

You can start by checking the fuse for the cooling fans, the relay and the coolant sensor. If you turn on your AC, the fan should come on automatically. If the fan comes on when the AC is on, the problem isn't in the cooling fan. Then it may be the intake gasket or a head gasket problem. The red antifreeze used in these models tend to eat away the plastic intake gaskets.

Overheating 1993 Buick Skylark

it could be a fuse or fan relay, or a stuck thermostat, i will recomend to aply stright power to radiator fan to see if works, if don't replace fan and fuse, but if does, then it might be the thermostat, one very easy way to test the cooling fan system is by unpluging the coolant sensor with the car runing, if fan come on whit car runing and sensor disconected, the the system is ok, and might be a bad sensor, or stuck closed or open thermostat. please leave feedback if this take care of your problem
