Question about Gibson Gas Furnace 60000 Btu 90% Afue Model Kg6rc060c12a Upflow Or

Gibson Furnace KG6RC-060C-12A Model

I woke up this morning and realized my thermostat read 15 degrees. I run it on the "hold temp" setting at 21 degrees. Air filter is clean as a whistle, vent pipe and fresh air intake appear to be clear. I am not and HVAC guy at all. From what I read online it appears there might be an issue with the limit switch. Using a volt meter to test the frequency to determine the position of the switch is something I need advice on how to do. I have a volt meter to check this. It sounds like this is a simple "do it yourself" type of fix provided the switch doesn't need replacing. There is one amber light and one red light on the board inside the unit, the red light is giving a signal of 2 flashes. I need some advice on where to go from here.

Somewhere on the unit there is a small chart that identifies the problem that the lights are indicating. That helps narrow down a long list of possibilities. However, if you catch it acting up you can check that limit switch like this:
with your voltmeter set to voltage test from one side of the switch to the other. If the limit is "open" due to an overheat problem your meter will read 240 or 24 volts depending. If the limit is closed/working it will read 0 volts. The unit must be running for this test. The problem is there is a small window of opportunity before it cools off and closes. Whatever you do, DO MOT BYPASS THE LIMIT!

Have Gibson furnace runs cycle but seems don't get hot enough out of vents check all 115 degrees at vents use to lot hotter old furnace you couldn't stand on vents now you can easily

Is this a gas furnace ? Newer high eff. gas furnaces do have cooler outlet temperatures. The installer should have checked the temperature rise and gas pressure. By adjusting the gas pressure and blower speed you can obtain a higher outlet temp, but you don't want the gas pressure to be higher than the manufacture specs and you don't want the furnace to run outside of the manufactures temp rise specs.

I turned my thermostat down this morning to 68 degrees. I came back about 2 hours later to increase the temp to 70 degrees but when I push the ^ arrow instead of showing the increase to 70 it just flashes...

Since it's within 2 degrees of your setting it could be one of two things. Most furnaces run longer (pass your setting) to maintain the setting you made. Which really not a problem. However, your thermostat may need calibrating. To test this theory, place a regular wall thermometer next to your furnace's thermostat and see if the two temps match when the furnace cuts on and then when it cuts off.
If the temps are both the same, the furnace thermostat is fine.

If you're turning it down to 68, because no one will be at home during the day, just set it 2 degrees cooler than 68 degrees. You will then wind up with 68 degrees.

My Trane thermostat (TCONT600AF11MAA) is supposed to have 1.5 degrees of heat pump "rest" above the desired setting before turning on the heat pump. The thermometer reading does not change yet...

Friend! All thermostat is calibrated to cut in and cut off at the end of - or + 1 degree end.
Example: If you set 23 degree, it will cut off in 21 degree and cut in @25 degree. So accordingly you set the temp.
Secondly, don't set temp near to your room temp.Minimum difference should be 3 degree. If your room temp 12 degree, set at least 15 degree for heat and if room temp 28, set at least 25 degree for cool.
Hope it's helpful?

Temp shows 2 degrees warmer than what is was set to

sometimes the furnace does a better job than anticipated, i wouldn't worry about it, especially if the furnace shuts off.
the setpoint is the temperature you want it to be
cycle lenghts are determined by how much recovery you are requesting. for instance, in the morning when you wake up, you want the temperature to be at its setpoint. what the thermostat will do is make the furnace run a limited lengths during the recovery process.
