Question about Televison & Video
The fault is with its video output stage circuit card. This card can be located at the back of the CRT itself, will be plugged directly to its back. Check all the solder terminals to this board, for any loose solder points. Re-solder all the suspected solder terminals, by applying a little more solder to each of it. The fault is technically called 'one color predominant screen'. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here.Viewing it in "Mosaic" will make surf easy.

The only way your going to change the video mode is with the original remote. If you need another remote go to http://remotes.com or call 1800 remotes Theres a button on the upper left hand side of the remote called video mode. A universal most of the time will not work this function. You could ask around to your friends and buddies or relitives if anyone has a working Sanyo remote or go to a local retailer that sells Sanyo and see if he would let you borrow one for a little while so you can switch out of the video mode. Good Luck

SOURCE: Black box in middle of screen
You have CC (closed captioning) turned on and it is set to text mode.....Go to the menu on the remote use the right arrow and hilight "C.CAPT",use the down arrow to highlight "C.CAPT",use the right arrow and highlight "off" then exit button on remote.

SOURCE: Black box appears in TV screen
The problem with the black box happened to me. I had pushed the subtitle button on my remote by mistake. Interestingly enough, as soon as I pushed the SUBTITLE key again, on the remote, the black boxes disappeared.
It also says CC which means closed captioned-- So the bottom on my remote is Subtitle, and then on the subtitle button is cc...
I hope this helps

your closed caption is on, this might be set on the cable box or the tv, look in the audio or set menu. If you dont have the remotr you should be able to navigate the menu on the tv with the onset controls
