Question about 2001 Volkswagen Cabriolet - All Cabriolet models - Silverguard Plus Car Cover
Mrs. Melissa. A possible cause on this problem you do have is not a major one. Actually you will need a good mechanical knowledge person,to follow what I advise you to do for first step,to see the difference. Do not try it yourself. First the air intake flex hose connecting the Air filter with the engine throttle ( for acceleration ) has to get removed. on doing so,then has to check the throttle body where the air gets into and on opening the throttle,by just turning the ignition switch and the person who is on the drivers seat to put his foot on the acceleration pedal fully down,in order to cause the throttle to open fully. the good mechanic to try cleaning the throttle area by using a special cleaning stuff called ( carburator cleaner spray) I personally use this spray which is made in USA from Master. on doing the cleaning has to be careful not to force the throttle otherwise you will damage the it. on cleaning the side wall and the throttle itself, just release the accelerator pedal and switch the ignition off, put the intake hose back on place, start the engine and let it idle for few seconds and then try engaging the gear and see how it works. Good luck
