System Disabled BIOS Problem

Boot up screen requires password. Tried to change it to blank so the screen would not show up when I give the laptop to my daughter. Now it asks for a password - even though I hit enter twice with nothing entered. Now I get "System Disabled [04974}". How do I fix this?

Hi. There's so many "fixes" out there but most do not work. The most popular is removing the bios/clock battery mounted on the circuit board but manufactures have started soldering additional batteries onto the board to prevent bios password hacks. However, there are passwords that override the bios and can be obtained from the manufactures directly. You must prove to them that you purchased the computer and send proof of purchase by fax or mail. Aside from these options, my hands are tied. Good Day

SOURCE: lockedout before user acct. password window entry

so is your password blank?? or have you changed it to something you cant rememeber? did you create a restore disk (no one really does this so will be surprised if you have) you can try a password change boot disk (search online for this) but can't guarantee this method.

SOURCE: I am using Acer travelmate

Try "1" or "/" or "A" or some messy combination of keys because it seems like you probably had a typo during setting the new password. Try "Spacebar" try "]" or "[" etc for a password, if you can figure it out you can reset it to nothing again just be careful. Otherwise research acer travelmate bios password removal. Also that computer is kind of old, so if there's nothing on it of importance, I'd replace it. If you need data try your friendly computer shop.

How do I reset the password on my packard bell netbook dot s

You can follow this steps:
* Enter wrong password 5/6 times.
* You should see a system disabled screen.
* Your system disabled screen will show a error code, ex: 07347
* Now go to, enter the error code.
* The site will generate you a master reset code from which you can reset the bios password.

*** Some laptops doesn't support that method.***

I have a acer aspire 5315-2315 i bought it off a guy and it has a system password that i was not given, how do i get past this problem to get to the windows log in screen?

Here is a website with a tool for resetting the password for a computer. It will require a blank usb flash drive and your netbook must be able to boot from usb. You can make your netbook boot from usb by hitting f10 or f9 during bootup, and change the boot order in the bios. Once that has been done you can use this utility to reset the password.

How do I get round a safe boot screen which

Best way would be to give the computer back to the owner and ask them to enter the password... If you have no idea what the password is, I can only assume that this does not belong to you.

If you bought it this way, sorry to say, the only way to get around that is to format the hard drive and reinstall the OS, as SafeBoot is a form of Whole Hard Drive Encryption.

You may need to enter the BIOS and set the machine to boot from the optical drive first so that you can boot the recovery/OS disc, this is, if the boot function key (F12) has been disabled. Try pressing F12 at the POST screen (Dell logo) and see if the Boot menu comes up. If it does, you can boot the disc from there, without messing with the BIOS settings.
