Question about Toshiba Canvio 500 GB USB 3.0 Portable E05A050CAU3XS (Black/Silver) Hard Drive

Check to see if there is a file in the root directory called "autorun.inf". If there is, either delete it, or move it to a backup folder. Now you should be able to rename your portable hard drive.
If you don't see the new name take effect right away, Safely remove the drive, unplug it and plug it back in. The changes should show up immediately.
