Hi. You can "powercycle" your deviced first. turn off your computers, router and modem (make sure you unplug the router and the modem from their power source), wait for 2 minutes then turn the modem on, wait for another one minute then turn the router on, wait for another minute then turn the computer/s on. :-)
If BT tested the phone line is OK but did AOL test the connection to the Netgear router and get the IP address of your Netgear router.
The phone connection is OK but the ADSL connection from the telephone exchange may not be working, that is why you are not getting an ADSL light.
if the ADSL led is on (=adsl signal found ok) then
most likely you got the username / password wrong.
this is 90% the cause of a "no - internet connection"
the easyest way to solve it is to call your internet providers helpdesk as they can see in their computers the satus of your connection (and many other technical details) and will guide you to solve this.
now if the ADSL led is off (=adsl signal not detected on phone line) then check the cables / connections from your wall telephone socket to the adsl filter and to your router.
also check if you forgot to put a filter in every phone (or fax etc) you might have in your home. also check if you have a faulty telephone set somewhere in your house (better disconnect them to be sure). if all ok then, call your providers help-desk.
what is used this router it is a adsl router or only router if this is only router then you have to connect your adsl modem then only its work properly .
I assume your modem is a ADSL or cable modem. I suggest you first connect your modem to a computer and check if you can connect to the Internet. If you cannot connect then check status of the LEDs on your modem. If you don't have LEDs indicating the PPP/ADSL, and LAN connection then you have an ISP connection problem. If you can connect to the Internet then your problem is either the router configuration and or LAN configuration.
Hello, Good question..Phone line to DSL modem, Ethernet cable to WAN port on Router. If connecting a PC wired to Router, connect Ethernet cable from 1 of 4 LAN ports on Back of router to ethernet port on PC. This would be Physical connection...
It's always smart to set a restore point in case something goes wrong during installation of any program. For wireless connection from laptop or PC: install router software on computer. Reboot computer. In browser address bar enter 192.168.1.1. This brings up a window for user name and password. Enter "admin" for both. This allows you to change many settings including Changing SSID(Router Name), User name and password. EnablingWEP or WPA security. Hope this Helps, Good Luck..!!
First you must have a steady led light on the on Power, Act and Lan, the Sync led will flash until the modem connects to the DSL line. If you are not running a router but only a modem, you will need to create a PPPOE network connection on the computer. If you are using a router with the DSL modem you will need to create the PPPOE connection only on the router. I had recently a problem with the DSL service to my home. My modem showed DSL connected but could not connect the PPPOE connection, the telephone company had to reset the circuit that I am on which fixed the problem. BPCS
Looks like your device does not support playing router for cable internet. Would recommend you get an actual router, or alternately if you have a computer with two network adaptors you could plug one into cable modem, plug other in to LAN side of router, then configure turn Windows Internet Connection service, will need to disable the DHCP service on the router. I highly recommend you get a real cable/dsl router to do this tho. Linksys 54g series has been one of my favorites.
