The USB ports are physically damaged and need replacement. The muting has been turned off and still no sound. Since the sound output jack is near the USB ports, it's possible that the sound module is on the same card as the USB ports on this model.

Hello, It sounds like you have multiple problems. Instead of replacing any parts on your lap top, may I suggest you have a tech look at it first? He/She will be able to SEE how the damaged usb ports are affecting the whole of your laptop. It may be no more then checking the mute on your speakers. Thank You

Sony vaio vgn-NR120E has no mic specially when u r on skype i can hear the caller but my voice is not heard by him...tell me the solutionWhat's your problem?

You're on a laptop and it's talking about a sound card?

If you can hear audio or the voice from the caller then you don't need a sound card.

Yes you can purchase an external mic and it just plugs into the mic port on your system. I think that might be why the caller can't hear you. All computers do not come with a built in microphone. And if you are skyping and using a web cam, all web cams don't have a built in microphone.

How can I send recordings to my laptop? I have a usb connector and i want to connect my portable grand to my laptop but the laptop does not detect the piano and i don't know what to press on the piano...

Hi mjaynneb,

I could be wrong here but I have a number of keyboards and the USB connection is usually for Midi control from software like Cubase and the like. If by recording you mean recording Audio then I think you'll find that it won't be possible using the USB port.

Midi is great and I use it a lot. It enables you to arrange music using your computer. Also you can record the music you play on the Keyboard on the computer as Midi. This means that the computer can play back through your arranger what you just played. Bear in mind though that Midi is purely numbers that represent notes, velocities and note duration so is not actually audio.

My keyboards have the ability to record to SD card or a Hard Drive, however if this is not a feature of your arranger then probably your best bet for recording audio from it is by using the Audio out ports of your arranger and using a connecting lead to a good low noise sound card on your computer. As you are using a laptop you can find external usb sound cards/interfaces so that should do fine. Then you could probably use something like Audacity which is free software, to record to a wav file.

I hope this helped.
Kind Regards
mparkyn

I want to install win xp on VPCEE29FX/BI

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit CPU Type: AMD Phenom II Triple-Core P820 1.8G Why would you want to "downgrade" from the high-performance 64-bit version of Windows 7 to Windows XP?

XP probably won't support the "triple-core" processor, nor the sound-card, nor the video-card, nor the USB ports. This would leave you with a very CRIPPLED computer.

Don't try it!

I need to replace my acer aspire desktop computers sound card...the serial number is am5640u5401a.....i have windows vista and an e2160 intel premium processor, can you tell me which soundcard to buy?

Your computer has all the regular expansion slots so it should be compatible with any sound card you wish to buy (it has PCI and PCI-e slots). I can suggest a suitable one for you if you can tell me the sort of audio-related tasks you use your computer for.
I am assuming you know how to install a sound card. If you don't, it really is not very difficult, and the card should come with instructions on how to do it.

Does the sound card come with the computer or does it have to be purchased ?

Sound card nowadays are built-in with the motherboard. You can check it out by looking at the back of your pc, the speaker port (small rounded port). In other cases, you may always buy an addon sound card (inserted inside the PC) or a USB sound card (inserted with an open USB slot).
Good Luck

My Toshiba p105 s6004 has a damaged sound control switch, so I have no sound. I think I need to replace the sound card. Who sells these?

you can get a small external sound controller that plugs into a USB port .. these are usually better than what comes with the laptop ... a lot of internal sound cards use only monoral inputs .. i guess thats ok for a mike but really bad if ;you want to record an old record, tape or FM station .. the external sound cards have sterio in and out and many other features ... also some have multichannel (mixer) capabilitys .. they usually have lower noise and better sound quality ... really good ones can be expensive but i got a low cost one locally that works great ..its very small but a big improvment over what my dell had internally in my laptop ..

the sound control switch and the "sound card" are likely seperate ... so replacing the card may not fix the problem if the control is bad .. in fact several spec sheets show the sound card as "integrated" on your machine .. that probably means its built on the motherboard .. not a plugin replacable part.. ouch

here are some external sound cards to get you started .. just search for USB sound controllers on google .. there are many

I have a Toshiba laptop, an old one. It has no sound. How can I locate the sound card so that I can buy a new one.

You did not provide the model number so I can not be 100% positive, but in my experience I have *never* seen a separate sound card in a laptop. I was a Gold Tech support tech for Dell and to the best of my knowledge, all laptops have the sound circuitry integrated on the motherboard.

What I would recommend is to enter the BIOS setup on the laptop (before Windows starts) and disable the integrated sound.

Then you can buy a USB sound card and plug it in to a USB port. There is quite a variety of choices. Search the Internet and choose the one you like best.
