Getting the parts needed and repairing this monitor would probably not be cost effective. If nothing happens when you try to turn it on (i.e. no lights or LEDs come on) then it probably is the power suppley circuitry that is failing. If you are technically capable, you could remove the covers and look for a blown capacitor (the loud bang sounds like a capacitor).

SOURCE: I have viewsonic 2230wm screen

Check video cable to ensure all pins are straight. If the cable is detachable, try a different video cable.

Check the OSD menu settings (contrast, brightness, color adjustments). use the reset option to reset the monitor back to factory settings.

Check the user's guide to see if any special conversion connector or adapter is required for proper signal continuity between your specific video card and your model of LCD.

If that doesn't work, you have pretty much exhausted the things a user can do with it. here is the support contact form for Viewsonic: http://www.nohold.net/noHoldCust18/Prod_4/KnowledgePortal/KPScripts/Route.asp?RouteID=28&surveytype=4

Sounds like you may have a bad connector. Make sure it fits snugly in the pc and the back of the monitor. If you still get no input try a different connector

Screen was very strange looking, with nothing but streaks. unhooked it from computer (Mac Pro), shut down computer, rehooked, turned on monitor, rebooted Mac (hooked to other monitor), which came up...

I would try this with PC first or another MAC to make sure it is not video card problems.
If it still bad you may have to inspect the caps just like all failed VIEWSONIC as shown here.

I want to see my lcd monitor's waranty status from my serial no

Hi

you can call ViewSonic Customer Support: 800-688-6688 in the U.S. and 866-463-4775 in Canada, give them your product serial no and they would be able to give you the status on your product warranty.

In case you want to avail the warranty service they would also give you a RMA (Return Material Authorization number) number.

As mentioned on ViewSonic website "ViewSonic LCD computer display products carry a three (3) year limited warranty for parts, labor and LCD backlight. Optiquest products carry a limited warranty of one (1) year for parts, labor and backlight. In order to receive warranty service, proof of purchase of the ViewSonic product is required."

Hope this helps

My viewsonic screen started to buzz. i bought it about a year ago. what is the problem??

well if uses a 3 prong plug to plug it in it may be a ground loop.

try this, goto a harware store and get and adapter to change a 3 prong plug to a 2 prong plug and then plug the monitor cable into that then into the wall.

diagram: power>|'.'|<power

ground

cut off the ground plug and that would also work!

Black screen, power button flicks

The monitor should come when the power button is pressed once - period. If not, and it continues to happen when connected to another PC, then the hardware is having trouble powering up the panel / ccds and it should be replaced/serviced according to the terms of the warranty. I suggest to bring it to an authorized service center for proper diagnosis & fix the problem. regards
