Question about Computers & Internet

Open Question

Samsung T24C550ND I bought a Samsung T24C550ND monitor to replace an old analog monitor built in 1997 used in a closed circuit system at our church. The old system uses BCN connections. I tried using a BCN/Cable adapter connecting through the threaded antenna connection, but I get a weak signal/no signal message and nothing but snow. Will I have more success using a BCN/RCA component adapter to feed the signal to the new monitor? Or is there a different method I should be using altogether?

SOURCE: Can't get monitor to connect

There are a few things to look at. It is very obvious that the screen is in good condition since you can see the message on it. Now the problem lies with either the RAM and/or the VGA. If you are using an onboard VGA, try a PCI VGA card. Try to resit the RAM modules also. If you have more than one mem chip, then do it one after another. It might be one them is fault and hence blocks the signal to video. Finally, any newly installed card should be temporarily removed ok. With these, I am sure the problem will be over. Good luck

SOURCE: Nothing on the screen at startup

If you cant get into the setup menu then I would think the monitor is defective, you did not state if you hooked up the monitor to a computer that has a vga port that works.

Samsung tv/monitor turns on when it wants to.Once it is on it works perfectly fine. The standby light is on. It is an issue with getting it on initially. It is plugged directly into the wall outlet.

The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device; in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

No signal from closed circuit system

If you monitor will accept a composite connection (RCA) than I would try that first but the right way to do this is to change the connectors on the cable. Wire length is in play here as well as wire type. Before I ask for more detailed information give the adaptor a try.

VGA connection works, DVI does not

Everything seems perfectly normal...

When you connect the computer to the monitor via an analog VGA cable, you get signal on the analog input.
When you connect them via a DVI cable, you feed the monitor's DIGITAL input, so the monitor doesn't get any signal on it's analog input, and informs you about it.
You have to select the digital input from the monitor's On Screen Menu, and then start the computer up - you should see the picture OK.
Also remember to set the display resolution on your computer to match the optimum (native) resolution of your monitor - this will give you optimum picture quality. In case of VA712B it will be 1280x1024.
Good luck and please come back with a testimonial if helped.
