Question about Asko Washing Machines

Open Question

Asko Washing machine door lock broken

We recently had to replace the door gasket/seal to our Asko washing machine (Model WL 6532 XXLW). We hired a repairman to do that work because I wanted to avoid the hassle. Since the door gasket/seal was replaced, we have had issues with the "LE" (locking error) alert. The repairman came back and quoted us over $400 to replace the door lock and the control panel. They are claiming no responsibility for breaking the door lock/control panel when changing out the door gasket/seal. It seems like too much of a coincidence. Have you heard before of this type of issue after replacing the door gasket/seal?

SOURCE: Fixing broken door lock of Indesit W123X washing Machine

no easy way to open
disconnect from mains
take top off. feel down the front to where the door lock is and see if you can feel the door peg sticking thro the door interlock. force this with your fingers and with luck the door will open
if can't do this way, break handle off and lever peg with a small screwdriver
you can buy a handle kit complete. fitting this is not difficult - split the door and all will be revealed advise you make a carefull note of where springs go etc before you start stripping it down or take a few fotos if you have a digicam

Cannot close front door

Possible that the sealing gasket is jammed or worn out that is not facilitating a clean close. Also check the door hinges and the lock mechanism, Use of a degreasing spray will be useful. If locks are jammed try with some light oilFor replacement of gasket check this link: http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/washing-machines/a/7/1397/how-to-replace-the-door-seal-on-a-washing-mac.html

I have the parts but need the instructions to install a new lock on my Asko frontload Washer/Dryer WD22M19.

Disconnect power then remove the clamp that holds the door gasket to the outer lip of the door opening. Once the clamp is off, peel the door gasket off near the door lock. Remove the screws securing the door lock to the front panel and take the lock out of the machine cabinet. Transfer the wires to the new lock then install it into place. Put the door gasket over the outer lip of the door opening and secure it with the clamp to complete the repair.
