I have the same Samsung 65" HCN653WX TV and am experiencing the same wavy, vertical lines. They are more noticeable on dark, solid pictures and less noticeable on bright or mottled images. They make the picture quite fuzzy. I would love to know if there is an easy fix to this.

I have the same wavy vertical line problem. I thought it was interference with my cables. I bought expensive cables, re-routed them and used exact lengths and the problem is still there. For what it's worth, when I switch to my Xbox 360, it is prefectly clear.

Sounds like the same problem I'm having. I can unplug everything and still see the lines on the screen. Anyone have any luck fixing this?

My Samsung HCN653W 65-Inch Widescreen Projection HD-Ready TV has a 3d like picture when it has been on a hour it goes back to normal

All projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video or dead set) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both.

Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. In some cases the TV will also not show any video. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

  • Screen looks 3D, wavy, or has a shadow or shadows
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Red lines when watching DVD

Regardless of what inputs you use when the lines appear, that symptom suggests that the Proscan Module Samsung p/n#BP95-00140T is probably defective. That board is a plug and play replacement but there are no short-cuts to testing it to be certain that's the problem or the entire problem. That said, the top of the metal shield lifts off and the board can be pulled with no greater skill than a first year technician. The board is $184.25 plus shipping from Vance Baldwin - so if you're feeling lucky you could try this one yourself... Just be careful. If you have ANY questions drop me a note at and include the model number. Hope this helps Bill Good luck
