Question about Toshiba NB205-N310/BN Netbook

1 Answer

Nb205-n310/bn maxes at 800x600 screen resolution

When I open up my display settings it has the slider for screen resolution at 800x600. This stretches the screen side to side making everything a little wider than it should be. Or squished up and down. When I try to move that slider over it won't budge. It stays on 800x600. How do I fix this stretched screen?

Make sure you have the correct driver installed for the graphics. Right hand click on the desktop, select resolution and pick a size that fits.

SOURCE: im having problems with my resolution

Download the correct XP drivers for the System from Toshiba's website itself. Install all the Toshiba drivers as on some of the notebooks, the monitor panel drivers are actually contained in the video adaptor files & are installed at the same time.

Can I increase the screen resolution on my EV700B monitor higher than 800x600? How?

Open Control Panel - Display - Settings tab - Screen Resolution move the slider to the right to increase the screen resolution.
If you cannot increase the screen resolution, it means the correct video driver was not installed generic VGA driver was installed.
In this case install the video driver for your graphics card and change the screen resolution.

The screen display looks odd and undersized, and the icons are smaller than usual

Hello,
Nvidia 9300GS is a well-performing graphics card. Such display resolution problems should not occur. To resolve issues of faulty display, download and install the latest driver of your Graphics Card. Go to Nvidia's official website and get your device's WHQL Version of driver, don't go for the Beta drivers.
Thank You.

The picture on my monitor is limited - it's not stretched to fit the whole screen. How do I fix this?

Establish what the recommended (native) resolution of your monitor is, and set the display resolution of your computer to the same values (in Windows right click an empty area of desktop, choose Properties, Settings tab, move resolution slider to the right to the right until proper values are set, confirm).
If you can't set the resolution to more than 800x600, it means that you need to install a driver for your graphics card.

I'm assuming you have all the drivers installed and properly configured.
Yes, it appears that a part doesn't start up as it should. Run this program

and check the voltages, if one is low then the board is failing.
