Question about GPX HM3817DTBLK Shelf System
The player was working fine. I went to move it just around the corner and I went to play it the CD made no sound. The radio, phono.,& cassett all work but no sound on the CD. I took the back off and the CD does not move. What would cause this.

SOURCE: The CD player does not work
It sounds like a mis-aligned laser or faulty laser unit. Either way unless you have experience of fixings cd players yourself its a job for the technicians. Good luck.

Try a "Laser Lens Cleaner" one that uses fluid, you can find them at just about any electronics retailer for 15-20. Run it thru a couple times and try your cd again. If it plays, make sure you clean it 3 or 4 times a year. It's the only preventative maintanance you can do. If it still won't play, it need service, if it's just an am/fm/cd without a changer etc. your better off replacing the unit. The repair will run from 125-175 on average. They just replace th cd transport. Hope this helps
