Why is the motor roaring ? is it rubing on housing or a bearing ?

It may not be you motor, but the sound of some item caught in the impellar, which is the part that causes suction. It is usually located in the upper housing, and can be accessed fairly easily. Unscrew any visible screws,(usually phillips type) and carefully lift housing off. This should expose the impellar. If debris is present, remove it.
But also check for possibly broken fins on the impellar itself. Sometimes items like coins, or nails etc, will get picked up accidentally, then spin around in the impellar housing, only to break a fin or two trying to move on. If this has happened, replace the impellar.

How to clean/lubricate bearings on Dirt Devil motor?

If you know some one with compressed air blow out all dirt particles best as possible then get a 3 in 1 oil or sewing machine oil drip along the motor shaft and turn by hand you will be able to free the difference once lubricated it should only take a few drops per side . let set for awhile and repeat . then put her together and see if motor speed returns to normal . also check turbine wheel for slipping on shaft.

I have a simplicity 7350 vacuum. The belt and roller have recently been replaced. It runs fine on floor mode and has no problems with suction. When I put the vacuum in carpet mode, I do not hear the motor...

the motor spins around a steel shaft that sticks out on one end, and the belt is driven by that shaft, belts are easily damaged and broken, meaning roller wont spin. Often a burning smell of rubber is noticed after motor shaft spins on stuck belt. cause is always hair./string/something at the three contact points. motor shaft and belt, roller and vacuum body become clogged. become familiar with taking cover off roller/belt, and cleaning Checking moving parts roller/belt come out easily and simple to clean...keep spare belts.

Spin brush

There is a rubber belt that's off track or you need to take it apart and clean out it. Over time everything gets stuck around it. A bad motor could cause it to not spin but you wouldn't hear anything noise when you plugged it up if that was the case.

Beater bar rotating but now making really loud almost buzzing sound???

It is probably a bad belt. That model uses a geared belt and you possibly have a few teeth missing on the belt.It could also be a bad brush or bad motor but less likley.Take the cover off of the power nozzle and inspect the belt.Disconnect it and look at it for missing teelh or a bad spot where they look different than the rest if this is the problem you can stop reading and just go buy a belt.Spin the brush by hand it should give very little resistance without a belt attached. If it spins freely then inspect the ends for a bad bearing.Check the plastic end caps for melting. If they look ok then try moving the brush back and forth slightly to see if the bearing has come apart. If the brush is spinning free and the ends are not showing any movement other than spinning around then inspect the area where the belt rides and make sure it is free of debris like hair and string. Finally plug in the machine with the power nozzle attached and the brush disconected and cover still off and listen to the motor in the power nozzle. If it still makes the noise it's the motor www.sewvac.com

The brush does not spin when engaged. Everything else is working fine.

When you remove the brush, the release button resets a trip fuse on the pcb. If that does not work at sounds like you have either blown the rectifier pcb or burnt out the DC motor that is in the brush head. You can get a complete replacement brush head for 70 pounds.

The roller that spins with little brushes stopped suddenly and no longer spins. I pressed the red little knob at the end of the roller but it doesn't fix the problem.

open up the roller area check to see if somthing got picked up and jammed into the rollers so that it can't work, a rock or a screw or you might even have a large amount of string or fibers wrapped around the shaft or brush keeping it from rolling
