Question about Canon Sure Shot A1 35mm Point and Shoot Camera
I've bought a "Canon Sure Shot A1 Panorama Date" and inserted a new CR 123A Battery. But nothing happens, the cam doesn't work at all. In the back of the cam there is a CR 2025 battery but I think this is only for the date function. Is the cam probably broken or do you think that it maybe work if I change the CR 2025 battery?

There are cameras with 'fixed' internal batteries to maintain date/time they are long lived and not usually replaceable.
If this is such a model and it is new then a replacement should be forth coming from the vendor or Canon.
The vendor is the first stop then Canon support

SOURCE: Date/Time Set Won't Work
Write to Canon's customer service. I dropped my camera in water briefly and wrote them. They offered me the chance to replace my camera at an outstanding price or have it repaired. Give them a try!

Bad news. For the date embedded feature, the image size is FIXED to the 2M (1600x1200) setting with the compression set to Fine.
The only other way I can think of, is if you are printing from software that came with your camera. When you start the software and transfer your photos, there will be a box to check if you want to add a date stamp to your photos.
Sorry about that! Mine does the same thing, only I never put the stamp on mine.
Hope this will be ok!

i have the canon a720IS and was having similar problem with my date/time. once i discovered the small cr1220 battery next to the regular battery compartment, i replaced it but the problem still was there.
i looked closely at the cr1220 compartment and took a toothpick and just pulled the metal prongs out a bit, so that they were in better contact with the cr1220 battery. ever since then i've had no problems.
