SOURCE: My 10 yr old Sony TV suddenly warps the picture

For a rear-projection Sony about 10 years old, just open it up (after its been off for awhile and unplugged..of course) and look for a pair of black plastic parts about 1 1/2 inches by 2 1/2 inches with lots of metal leads going into the circuit board, mounted vertically on pieces of aluminum with fins for cooling. They should be marked STK392-120 or STK392-150 or some other STK number. These need the pins to be resoldered underneath on the circuit board (if you are inclined and know how to solder). If resoldering doesn't fix it. They need to be replaced. They can be ordered from: or any other online parts distributors...just Google the STK number on the parts in your set. They typically cost about $11.00 - $17.00 each

Good luck

SOURCE: Television picture colour

This is because you have something emitting an electric magnetic pulse close to the TV. Like a large unshielded speaker or large Battery. First thing you need to do is move anything near the TV away and see if that correct the issue. Next would be to degauss the TV. Unfortunately the TV probably does not have a built in degausser.

A degausser is an electro magnet in a circle. you plug it in and run it around the surface of the TV.

Check for any loose solder terminals at its video output card. This card can be located at the back of the CRT, will directly plugged on to it. Re-solder all the suspected solder terminals, by applying a little more solder. The fault can be categorized to 'sigle color predominant' screen.

Try # 2... Green Fog

The green gun in your picture tube is set a little too high. If you are experienced in removing the back cover of TV's,etc., you may try to find the drive and/or bias controls either on the circuit board that plugs on to the neck of the picture tube or mounted on the main circuit board of your TV. These controls are usually labeled. If you can find them, locate the green bias or drive control and back it down a little while watching the picture through a mirror. A slight adjustment may correct your problem.tJIS IS CALLED GRAY SCALE ADJUSTMENT. BE CAREFUL THERE ARE SOME HIGH VOLTAGE CIRCUITS NEARBY. WORK WITH ONE HAND AND USE AN INSULATED TOOL TO MAKE ADJUSTMENTS I hope this may help you.AGAIN BE CAREFUL!! Stargazer
