For a rear-projection Sony about 10 years old, just open it up (after its been off for awhile and unplugged..of course) and look for a pair of black plastic parts about 1 1/2 inches by 2 1/2 inches with lots of metal leads going into the circuit board, mounted vertically on pieces of aluminum with fins for cooling. They should be marked STK392-120 or STK392-150 or some other STK number. These need the pins to be resoldered underneath on the circuit board (if you are inclined and know how to solder). If resoldering doesn't fix it. They need to be replaced. They can be ordered from:
www.ued.net or any other online parts distributors...just Google the STK number on the parts in your set. They typically cost about $11.00 - $17.00 each

This is because you have something emitting an electric magnetic pulse close to the TV. Like a large unshielded speaker or large Battery. First thing you need to do is move anything near the TV away and see if that correct the issue. Next would be to degauss the TV. Unfortunately the TV probably does not have a built in degausser.
A degausser is an electro magnet in a circle. you plug it in and run it around the surface of the TV.
