Question about Refrigerators
We have an issue with our Viking fridge (DDSF136DSS02) not dispensing ice. It makes ice not problem but when we try to dispense ice...nothing comes out. It appears to me that there may be ice in the gears/motor which could be causing this problem. Reason being is because when we totally defrosted the freezer, the motor for the ice dispenser turns. I did this as a preliminary troubleshooting step. When I plugged it back in and the freezer was at freezing temperature, the motor would no longer turn. Have any of you seen this issue before? Thank You

INSIDE THE DISPENSER ASSEMBLY IS A SEPARATE ELECTRONIC BOARD THAT CONTROLS THE DISPENSER.
OCCASIONALLY, THE DOOR SOLENOID OR THE CUBE ICE SOLENOID WILL SHORT OUT CAUSING A BURNOUT OF THE DISPENSER CONTROL BOARD. CHECK FOR A BURNT SMELL COMING FROM THE DISPENSER HOUSING. IF YOU SMELL IT, THE BOARD AND/OR SOLENOID NEED TO BE REPLACED.

You have one of three things wrong. The auger motor is frozen up, the ice bucket is broken or you need to dump out any ice, run warm water through the entire ice bucket, dry it out and try again with fresh cubes. My guess is the auger motor is frozen. You can buy a vinyl boot that covers the auger motor to prevent moisture buildup and freezing from GE Parts at 1-800-626-2002

SOURCE: LG fridge freezer GR-L207QVJA.
You have a solenoid switch which switches the dispenser back and forth from crushed to cube. It could be stuck or not working or the parts connecting it could be disconnected or broken. You will have to observe to see if any parts are moving and if any noise is coming from the solenoid
