I have a Breville rice cooker that I've used only twice and it's worked perfectly. I just tried putting on some rice but the cooker keeps shutting down. It's not that the water has evaporated as I've just started the cooking process. I tried to reset as per the "Troublshooting" guide which lists only one problem (the cooker keeps shutting down) but their solution does not work.

SOURCE: rice cooker stopped working after one month's use

You probably should bring it to a service center. since youve mention a span of time not using your cooker, the thermal capacitor may be busted.

hope this helps.

I also have this problem and I fixed it by adding in a little more water and by removing the power cord from the outlet immediately after the cooker finishes it's cycle. Not ideal, but it does save my rice.

Rice cooker not turning on

Hi,
There is a sensor that regulates how hot the cooker gets and shuts it down to the warm setting when it senses that the heat is too high...meaning that all the water has cooked off....my guess is that the sensor failed and as far as I know it is not replaceable.

Here is a tip that I wrote about rice cookers and the amount of rice and water needed...

Is it possible to get breville rice cooker lid alone? i bought a new breville rice cooker last month, but unfortunately its lid has been broken.

Wow, that is a hard one. I couldn't find anybody that carried Breville Rice Cooker parts, including Breville.

My suggestion...go to their site and send them a message. Ask them to provide the part or someplace local to you to get it. Good Luck.

Here is their link:

Rice burning at bottom of cooker

Your cooker, along with mine, cooks very hot. If it is new then you can take it back, but if you want to cook with it then you need to stir the rice often. About every 5 minutes should be good. As soon as it is done you need to remove it from the cooker. Let's see how that works.
