Vizio vp322 wont do anything but has power

Ok While the tv was on my girlfriend fell sleep watching it and a short time later the tv poped and the picture and sound quit. The vizio logo was still white indicating it had power and was on but it wouldnt respond to the remote. I couldnt get it to turn off from the remote so i tried the controls on the side and it still wont turn off. I unplugged the tv thinking maybe it had a fuse or something and it would reset but when i plugged it in again the vizio light would turn orange so it had power but now i cant get it to turn on. i bought it in february of 2008 so its past the one year warranty. I want to know if you can tell me whats wrong with it and if this something i can fix (buy the parts and fix myself), get repaired or if i'll have to get a new tv. If i do have to get a new tv can you recomend one? one that lasts more than 16 months hopefully. thank you.
