Usb ports do not light up

When i plug in a device the usb ports do not light up

You are not the only person having problems with the Belkin N750 DB Wireless Dual Band Router. Are you using the correct cables? One more thing you can check, does it have a reset button on the bottom or the side? Try those two things.

When i plug it into the USB it doesnt work, and doesnt light up, however when i plug it into another computer it works perfectly


Try plugging another USB device into the same USB port on your computer. If that device doesn't work either, there may be a problem with that USB port. Try another USB port, or install a new card with additional USB ports. Bear in mind that when you plug in a USB device, the computer can take several minutes to install the drivers for it.

There are 4 possible ways in my awareness...
Method 1: Resynchronize your device with the receiver To resynchronize the mouse or the keyboard with the receiver, follow these steps. Note When you synchronize the mouse or the keyboard with the receiver, put the device near the receiver and put any other wireless keyboards and mouse at least 6 feet away.
  1. Press the button on the receiver, and then verify that the light on the receiver starts to blink.

    Note Some newer Microsoft devices are permanently bound to their receiver and cannot be reset. If your device does not have a button, skip to Method 2.
  2. If a dialog box appears on the screen in several seconds, follow the instructions that appear on the screen. Otherwise, go to the next step.
  3. Press and release the Connect Channel button on the bottom of the mouse or the keyboard.
  4. Check the green light on the receiver. A steady green light means the synchronization was successful. If the problem persists, try steps 1 through 4 again.
  5. For the Wireless Notebook mouse: This issue can occur if the micro-switch on the bottom of the mouse is not released. Use a pin or a pen to try to release the button if it is depressed.

Computer won't recognize the store-it drive external hard drive


You may have a problem with your drive or the usb ports so we need to check both. The green light usually just means the device is getting power.

The first thing to do is unplug the drive and reboot the computer. Make sur eit has finished booting up completely. Then plug it into a different usb port NOT the same one. If it detects and works it was just the operating system or motherboard not recognizing whats called a legacy usb device.

Next we want to try a different usb device in the computer to make sure the ports are working.

And we want to try the drive in another computer to make sure it is working.

At this point you will know if the problem is your drive or the port. If it is the drive you can get it runnning again sometimes by taking the actual drive out an dputting it into a new external drive enclosure kit.

An error message stating that the device overloaded the usb port appears (yellow light at the port).


Go to the device manager and uninstall all usb devices. Turn off computer, unplug all usb, reboot twice, plug usb in again. Also helpful are troubleshooting usb articles here and here.

USB PORTS


does your usb mem stick have any light indicators? if yes , whenever you put you usb stick, does it light? if it lights are USB ports is still ok,  You just have to reformat or partition you USB stick.
(you can also try other devices like usb mouse or any usb devices that lights up when you connect it)

if there are no lights if you plug, or no indication that a power goes to your stick, its possible that your usb your are busted. if this is the case, if your laptop has a PCMIA slot, you can find a pcmia USB card, if you dont have. your only option is replace the  motherboard.

  • The driver for the device is faulty. When you plug in a USB device, the computer should load and then configure the device without ever requesting a device driver. If the computer prompts you for a device driver, check the information that came with the device or go to the manufacturer's website to see if a driver is available.
  • The USB port might be defective. If the USB device is connected to a defective port, the device will not work. Try plugging the device into a different port. If all the USB ports are being used, unplug a device that you know works, and then plug the problem device into the port that device was using.
    If the device is plugged into a secondary USB hub with other USB devices, unplug the device from the hub, and then plug the device directly into a port on your computer.
  • Other USB devices might be drawing too much power from the hub. The device you are trying to use might require all the available power or bandwidth that your computer can provide. If other USB devices are connected to the computer and are drawing power from it, the first device might not work. If any other devices are drawing power from the hub, try disconnecting them, and then see if your device works. If this solves the problem, you might want to obtain a USB hub with its own power supply so that you have adequate power for all devices.

    Clean the mouse lens loadTOCNode(2, 'moreinformation'); This problem may occur if you are using an optical or laser mouse and the lens on the mouse is dirty. To clean the lens of an optical or laser mouse, follow these steps: 1. Use a dry cloth to clean the bottom surface of the mouse. 2. Check to see whether the mouse functions correctly. 3. If you see dust on the bottom of the mouse, use a can of pressurized de-ionized air to blow away the dust on the lens. 4. Check to see whether the mouse functions correctly. 5. If the pressurized air canister is not available, blow dry air on the lenses by using your mouth one or two times. 6. Check to see whether the mouse functions correctly. 7. If these steps do not resolve the problem, use a cotton bud to clean the lens without scratching it.

    THE PROPER WAY ON INSTALLING USB DEVICES A. Enable usb ports on the BIOS. 1. Do not plug in your device right away. Install all drivers and software first! 2. Reboot 3.
