How to you set sprocket mark,so that you can install timing chain

You don't give make or model, makes it hard for me, The following works on 4 and 6 cylinder in line motors. turn the camshaft till the rear most cylinder inlet and exhaust valves are just rocking, there will be a mark on the cam gear and one on the block or head, make sure they line up. There is a mark on the crankshaft pulley and one on the timing cover , line them up , you now have compression stroke on number one cylinder at T.D.C . If fitted with a distributor rotor must point to number one post. Fit chain or belt . turn motor over twice and re check marks.

Cam timing without special tools

Turn motor till mark on crankshaft pulley or fly wheel mark lines up with TDC mark on housing. with a 4 cylinder motor turn cam shaft till valves on number 4 cylinder are rocking, there should be a mark on the cam gear to line up with a mark on the housing, that it, the same for a 6 cylinder motor , number 6 cylinder valves rocking.

Model 31G777 Need to know what the timing position is for this engine please ,As stated earlier I have it at 3 o clock it wont start . ideas please

Don't waht your trying to with the 3 o'clock position but crank and cam timing marks align with each other.

Instructions from service manual:

Install Crankshaft and Camshaft

1. Lubricate the cylinder bearing/oil seal with engine oil.

2. Install intake and exhaust valve tappets.

3. Support both ends of the crankshaft, and carefully install into the cylinder.
NOTE: The counterbalance system, if equipped, must be assembled to the crankshaft before installing into the cylinder.

4. Assemble connecting rod assembly to crankshaft.

5. Install the timing gear to the crankshaft with timing mark out. The flange of the gear must face the counterweight link, if equipped.

6. Install camshaft, making sure tappets clear cam lobes. Timing marks (A, Figures 6, 7, 8) must align.

7. On horizontal crankshaft engines, make sure the paddle on the governor shaft (B, Figure 6) is rotated in line with the governor cup inside the crankcase cover.

8. On vertical crankshaft engines, assemble governor gear/oil slinger (B, Figures 7 and 8) to camshaft. Make sure the paddle on
the governor shaft is contacting the governor cup (C).

Does the #1 piston have to be on tdc before replacing the cams in my 2006 harley sportster which is the #1

No, completely ignore any marks on the flywheels. These are for ignition timing only. Align the cams using the mark on the pinion gear and the cams. The pinion gear mark must be aligned with the mark on the pinion shaft. Once this is on correctly, align the marks on the cams to the pinion gear and the other cams. Once the engine is back together. set the ignition timing using the flywheel marks. There is no #1 cylinder, this ain't an automotive engine. You have a front cylinder and a rear cylinder. All timing marks on the flywheel are for the front cylinder. Front cylinder top dead center and Front cylinder advanced timing marks.

Good Luck

We are installing a timing chain in our 1995 Jeep cherokee sundown edition for the first time can you please send me the timing gear specs the motor is a 4.0 with air. thank you

By :"specs" I assume you need install position? To index the gears, whne you take it apart, turn the crank pulley 'till the timing mark aligns with the "0" on the timing scale. Don't turn the crankshaft again. When you are ready to install the chain, locate the mark on the crank gear and align the mark on the cam gear so they point to each other. The mark on the crank gear should be at 12 o'clock and the cam gear mark at 6 o'clock. Make sure when you put the cam gear on the cam that the location pin fits into the gear to position it correctly. Jeep recommends that after putting the chain and gears on, you rotate the engine by hand and place the crank mark at 6 o'clock and the cam gear at 3 o'clock, then count the number of pins in the chain (pins, not links) between those two points. There should be 15 pins. If you are rebuilding the engine and have the cylinder removed, it's a good time to check the front crank pulley (some have the outer ring move on the rubber). Put a piece of flat steel across #1 cylinder with a bolt through the steel extending into the bore center. Turn the engine by hand 'till the piston contacts the bolt. Make a mark on the pulley and turn the engine in the opposite direction till contact is again made. Your timing mark on the pulley should be exactly between the two marks you made. If not, make a new mark at that point and use that as your actual TDC reference. If it is radically off, replace the pulley.
When setting up cam position I always use a degree wheel. If you are installing an aftermarket cam
its important to do that. If you're just replacing a stock chain, You will be fine with the method I've outlined.

Where do i find spark plugs and wires on chevolet trailblazer 2002

The spark plugs are located normally near the value cover where you put in the oil. The wires run from the spark plugs. If your vehicle is a 4 cylinder then there will be 4 spark plugs. If it's a 6 cylinder there will be 6 spark plugs.

Need specs.for Honda rototiller motor

Hello
The valve clearance is 0.08 for intake valve and 0.11 for exhaust valve . To do the timing you have to remove the spark plug and set the piston at top dead center (all the way up) and on the cam pulley you have a mark (like a triangle) that you have to align with the fan cover bolt hole . Hope this help
