Question about Connex Radio Communications
The volume knob is really loose, how do I tighten it
Posted by Anonymous on
I'm assuming you mean just the knob, and not the shaft behind it, if it's a D shaped shaft, a slip of paper in the knob will tighten it up, if it's knurled and round shaft, spread the split in the middle open slightly until the knob is tight

SOURCE: How do i peak my connex 4300hp?
They probably still have more experience then you do! You should be okay as long as you tell them that you just want a basic peak and tune. Nothing crazy. If you ask for super mod of some kind then you will end up with a radio with problems.
You can also send it out to have it peaked and tuned.
50 watts isn't bad tho. I have never worked on a connex and don't know much about them so I couldn't tell you who to peak it out.

This is more of a "Comment" than solution for readers. The wattage output will be only the final amplified source. That linear on AM will probably 180watts more likely 150 watts dependent on finals in it. They can be pushed a little harder but they will have 75 or 90 watt transistors at best 2X90=180watts. 2pill linear as they are so lovingly refered to. The moral of the story is linears are generally advertised at high wattage. We have not even got into Highdrive and Low linears. But i would call that low not even knowing the model it is way to much PEP in to the poor little thing.
