ROPER RAS6233KQO T.L.W.-Won't fill/rinse with cold water

I have a ROPER RAS6233KQO top load washer. The wash cycle will only fill on the warm or hot settings, not the cold....and since all rinse cycles refill with cold, it wont do anything after it washes and drains. Yes, I made sure the cold was on :-) I've advanced the rinse cycle to the drain/spin part to see if it would shoot out water while spinning, and it didn't. It does fine everywhere else. Think you can helpĀ me out? Thanks!

I have a Maytag 587VA-0393 that is having the same problem. I couldn't wash all last week because the main water valve was leaking. Husband fixed that over the weekend (only added this info in case it is somehow relative). Since Ive washed one load just fine, second load went through wash cycle then was hung on rinse just humming. Looks as though it began to run rinse water then stopped.

I checked to see if it was only rinse or was as well and it wont fill with water on any cycle, every other step works fine. It will fill with water if I set it to hot but no cold.

I dont have the money to call a repair man again as they charge $75.00 service call besides parts and labor. I just had the water pump replaced a few months back and another time a rather expensive little power switch.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I will probably be doing this myself. My husband has written off fooling with the washer. Thank you for any help!

Most washers have a small screen at the water inlet valve. They can be accessed simply by revoving the hose from the back side of the washer, using a small screw driver you can carefully remove the screens and clean them out under a faucet. That may be all that is wrong.

Sounds like the cold valve coil is bad?

My washing machine is a Roper top load washer. The problem I am having is that the pump from the cold water drain from under the washing machine. Do I need another pump? The hot water will work. I use the...

This model is a direct drive with only one pump, the drain pump. If the drain pump leaks, which is a common problem on these models, it will leak no matter what temperature wash is selected! If you a have a leak on cold, it will probably also leak on warm wash. Your problem is your solenoid operated fill valve on the cold side. Only one fill hose comes off of this combination fill valve to your fill plenum at the top back of your tub. So if it leaks on the cold, but not hot, check for a crack in the plastic housing of the valve on the cold half. The valve is located on the inside back of the machine on top right when looking at the front of the machine. They are fairly inexpensive and easy to replace.

Hope this helps

Have a Roper RAS7133RQ3 top loading washer. Will not fill with water when turned on but will spin and drain when you take it through the cycles.

First, always check for the obvious causes, if you haven't already, we all tend to overlook these.

1. Are water valves open, and if so is there water.

2. Check hose filter screens for plugging, or hoses themselves,

After these possible causes have been ruled out, check machine's inlet for both hot and cold taps for blockage, other wise you most likely have a bad fill valve, which are fairly cheap and simple to replace. If you have hard water, this is your best bet. These valves have two solenoids, one each for hot and cold, one or the other will energize when the temperature selector switch is selected for hot wash or cold wash, if warm wash is selected both solenoids energize to allow both hot and cold water to enter the machine and mix to warm.

Hope this helps

The water fills very slowly on rinse

You probably have a cold inlet valve with restricted flow, either because the filter on the inlet valve is clogged or because the cold valve is failing......If you wash on "warm" you have both hot and cold water mixed. On rinse there is probably only cold water used....Check water flow for HOT and COLD settings and you'll probably see the difference...Good luck...Nomess

Won't complete cycle, stops at rinse. and can't get hot water.

Are you on well water? turn off the cold water to the washer and clean the screen filter out. do not leave filter out.
the machine probably has a cold only final rinse so it won't work properly.

Washer only fills with hot water

Probably a bad water inlet valve. To verify, you would have to check continuity at the valve.

Cold water will not stop filling during rinse

while the unit is filling in the warm cycle. reach behind and shut off the hot water tap.I bet the water flow stops filling, if so, you would need to change the inlet valve on the machine. You see, in warm, if the cold is not filling, you still hear the hot filling and the unit will advance. The rinse cycles are mostly "cold" only. if the valve is not opening it will not allow it to advance from the rinse section on the board.

Good luck!

Rinse cycle, water won't work

It sounds like you either use warm or hot water for the wash cycle. If this is the case, you probably have a cold water solenoid problem on your water inlet valve (also known as a mixing valve on some washers). Most people use warm or hot water on the wash cycle. The water inlet valve has two solenoids. One for hot and one for cold. It uses a combination of the hot and cold solenoids to make warm water. The rinse cycle on most washers is a cold water rinse only, however. This would explain why the water appears to flow normally when it fills during the wash, and only trickles when it rinses. If you live in an area that has hard water, or if you use well water, these valves commonly clog with sediment. You can shut off the water, remove the hoses, and attempt to clean the sediment screens to see if the water flow improves. If it doesn't, you will need to replace the valve. The following link epxlains how:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r600647-replacing_water_inlet_valve_kenmore

I know the link says this is for a Kenmore or Whirlpool, but also applies to a Roper. A replacement valve can be ordered on line at searspartsdirect.com. Just type in the model number and the part you need is located under the "Controls and Rear Panel" heading as item number 18 (part #285805). This is a very simple and inexpensive fix if you wish to perform the repairs youself. Not to mention, you can potentially will save hundreds by avoiding the labor charges of a service call. I hope this helps you. If you require additional assistance, please let me know. Hopefully, a good cleaning will do and you won't require parts.
