Assembly of McCulloch 335 chainsaw. do not understand B4. Check that small end of chain tension lever fits into bottom hole 18 of bar.


The chain adjuter is in the side cover ( chainbrake ) so you need to make sure the adjuster pawl in the brake ligns up with the hole in the guide bar, if not the chain will not tighten, and you will damage the cover if you tighten the bar nuts and the pawl is not in the bar hole.

I was cutting logs and pinched the bar on my johnsored. now the chain is loose, tried to tighten it all the way but wont tighten enough.goes to end of travel and makes clicking nose from tentioner worm...


Hi Dennis,

If you're getting a clicking noise from the tensioner assembly, yes replace it.
Also, after pinching the bar, a lot of times it gets bent. Put the bar on a completely flat surface and check for flatness. You might have to replace that too. :>(

We purchased a Radio Flyer Stroll and Go but during assembly the front wheel was put on but was put on 90 degrees the wrong way. We are not able to get the wheel off so we can correct the wheel.


Where you inserted the handle bars into the bearing assembly on the frame there is a fork clamp you had to tighten to secure the handle bars and front fork. Loosen this and you should be able to disassemble the front end. While reassembling be sure the you line up the notches on the fork with the grooves in the bearing assembly and that the handle bars are properly aligned before tightening the fork clamp.

I have replaced the stabilizer links on my 2008 Pontiac G6 base model and I cant find the torque specs for the nuts.

Stabilizer Links

Removal & Installation

  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2. Remove the front tire and wheel assembly.
  3. Disconnect the stabilizer link from the stabilizer shaft.
  4. Disconnect the stabilizer link from the strut assembly and remove from the vehicle.

To install:
  1. Connect the stabilizer link to the strut assembly.
  2. Tighten the stabilizer link nut to 48 ft. lbs. (65 Nm).
  3. Connect the stabilizer link to the stabilizer shaft.
  4. Tighten the stabilizer link nut to 48 ft. lbs. (65 Nm).
  5. Install the front tire and wheel assembly.
  6. Lower the vehicle.

Setting blade tension withouty gauge


With the chainsaw positioned and with the bar/chain combo loosely assembled properly on the chainsaw power-head. With the guide bar/chain adjuster inserted properly into the bar. Using a rag or wearing gloves. Notice how much up and down movement is at the guide bar tip. You must use this to your best advantage!! With the chain adjuster loose. finger tighten the bar nut or nuts. Hold the bar-chain assembly in the up position. To tension the chain, turn the adjuster in the correct direction to tighten the chain. DO NOT LOOSEN YOUR HOLD ON THE BAR, KEEP THE BAR IN THE UP POSITION. Rotate the chain along the bar to make sure it is free to move back and forth, KEEP THE BAR UP. Tighten the tensioner until the chain just touches the bottom of the guide bar. Check for back and forth movement again. Tighten the tensioner no more than a quarter of a turn. CONTINUE TO HOLD THE BAR UP. Now tighten the bar buts or nut snugly against the sprocket & chain guard cover. Check for movement again. If satisfactorily tight and free movement is attained the chain bar combination is properly adjusted.
This scenario will change with different types and brands of chainsaws. It is always very helpful if posters would include a modicum of make, model information with their queries.

How to change lower ball joints

Installation
  1. Inspect lower ball joint boots and seals for damage and replace if required. Lower ball joint and seal is part of front suspension lower arm and must be replaced as an assembly.
  1. NOTE: Do not tighten the front suspension lower arm bolts and nuts to the specified torque until the end of assembly. Install nuts and tighten until snug.

    Position the front suspension lower arm in the front crossmember. Install the bolts. Install the nuts and tighten until snug.
  1. Install torsion bar. Refer to Torsion Bar in this section.
  1. Raise the front suspension lower arm to allow installation of front suspension lower arm ball joint into spindle bore.
  1. Lower front suspension lower arm with a jack while making sure lower ball joint is seated in spindle bore. Install the lower ball joint attaching nut and tighten to 113-153 Nm (82-113 lb-ft). Install a new cotter pin.
  1. Raise vehicle. Position the front shock absorber and install the nut/washer/bushing assembly. Tighten nut to 40-55 Nm (30-40 lb-ft).
  1. Install the two nuts attaching the front shock absorber to the lower control arm and tighten to 21-29 Nm (15-21 lb-ft).
  1. NOTE: Front suspension lower arms must be in the horizontal or curb position (vehicle on the ground) when tightening the front stabilizer bar link bolts. Use jackstands to raise the front suspension lower arms to the horizontal position or lower the vehicle to the ground (curb position).

    Lower the vehicle to the ground.
  1. Connect the stabilizer bar link bolt to the front suspension lower arm and tighten to 13-17 Nm (10-13 lb-ft).
  1. Tighten nuts and front suspension lower arm bolts to the No. 1 crossmember to 150-200 Nm (111-148 lb-ft).
  1. Check ride height and align as necessary. Refer to Section 04-00 .
  1. Lower the vehicle.

Section 04-01: Suspension and Wheel Hubs, Front 1996 Taurus, Sable Workshop Manual REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Stabilizer Bar Removal
  1. Raise vehicle on a hoist. Refer to Section 00-02 .
  1. Support vehicle with hoist or safety stands behind front sub-frame (5C145).
  1. sth~us~en~file=ani_caut.gif~gen~ref.gif CAUTION: Use extreme care not to damage boot seal. Do not use power tools to tighten nut, or bearing and seal damage will result. Install nut using hex hold feature to prevent the stud from rotating.
    Remove and discard nuts retaining stabilizer bar link (5K484) assembly to front stabilizer bar (5482) and front shock absorber (18124) with an 8 mm closed-end wrench and an 18 mm open-end wrench.

  1. Remove nuts retaining steering gear (3504) to front sub-frame, and move steering gear off the front sub-frame.
  1. With another set of support safety stands under front sub-frame, remove two rear subframe retaining bolts. Lower rear of the front sub-frame to obtain access to stabilizer bar brackets (5486).




  1. Remove front stabilizer bar U-bracket bolts and replacestabilizer bar brackets and/or front stabilizer bar as required. Discard lower suspension arm stabilizer bar insulator (5493) and bolts.
Installation
  1. Clean front stabilizer bar to remove dirt and contamination in area of stabilizer bar insulator installation position.
  1. Lubricate inside diameter of new lower suspension arm stabilizer bar insulator with Rubber Suspension Insulator Lube E25Y-19553-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESF-M99B112-A. Do not use any mineral or petroleum based lubricants as they will deteriorate the rubber lower suspension arm stabilizer bar insulators.
  1. Install new lower suspension arm stabilizer bar insulators onto front stabilizer bar and position them in approximate location.
  1. Install stabilizer bar bracket on front sub-frames and install new bolts. Tighten to 30-40 Nm (22-29 lb-ft).
  1. Raise front sub-frame and install new front sub-frame-to-body retaining bolts. Position steering gear onto front sub-frame and install retaining nuts. Tighten to 115-135 Nm (85-99 lb-ft).
  1. sth~us~en~file=ani_caut.gif~gen~ref.gif CAUTION: Use extreme care not to damage boot seal. Do not use power tools to tighten nut, or bearing and seal damage will result. Install nut using hex hold feature to prevent the stud from rotating.
    Install stabilizer bar link to front shock absorber and to front stabilizer bar, making sure that the stabilizer bar link is properly positioned. The letters "Top LH" and "Top RH" are moulded into the stabilizer bar link for correct assembly to the front shock absorber strut.
  1. Install new nuts and secure stabilizer bar link assembly to front stabilizer bar and front shock absorber. Tighten to 77-103 Nm (57-75 lb-ft) at front shock absorber strut and 47-63 Nm (35-46 lb-ft) at front stabilizer bar.
  1. Remove safety stands.
  1. Lower vehicle.
