Camera turns on and works fine in playback mode. But as soon as you press the shutter button, the power goes off leaving a blank screen. We went to the beach last fall -- could it be sand? However, the camera worked fine until just a few months ago. Wanted to open it up to see if I could see any sand, but don't have a screwdriver small enough to do the job. Any suggestions?? Need to get it fixed quick with the holidays coming up!
-   I've just experienced the same problem. I thought it was probably because my rechargeable batteries had run low (although it's never behaved in this way before) so I tried it with some new non-rechargable batteries. But the problem persisted. However, I've just tried it again with fresh rechargable batteries and it appears to be working again. Strange!

-   The same thing happens to mine. I can do playback mode, but when I turn it on and take a picute it shows it on the screen for a short moment and then shuts off. If I go to playback to see if it took it did not. I have tried changing the batteries serveral times but no difference. It doesn't show a low battery symbol in the corner either. What could be wrong.-   Rochbomb

-   I have a FujiA345 and have the same problem. Wonder if this problem will be solved by reinstalling the the camera software.-   shant121
For some reason, Fuji does not emphasize that if your batteries get low, this is what happens. You just need recharged batteries or new batteries. Be careful with rechargables--before recharging them when this happens, you first have to drain them using the discharge mode of your camera. Then they will take a complete charge. (Good for some 300 charges or so, I believe.) But if you don't discharge them first, they will take less and less of a charge, and last shorter and shorter. If you use regular batteries, they might not last for 50 pics before running out of juice.

- One last comment: Fuji states that you should try to clean the metal connectors to the battery posts. (They don't say how, but likely some abrasive like non-soapy steel wool would do the trick.)

fuji E550 camera The green colour sensor has gone wrong and I get pink pictures (or, sometimes, totally dark ones). Strangely, it improves if the flash is on.
