if its a Kenmore model then this message says that the button control board has lost sight of the main control board , but its been my experience that this maybe able to be reset and it may never come back or it will not reset and the control board will need replaced (50/50)
The error is probably 0xC4EB841A. This is an internal failure of the printer. You can try to reset and power down the printer slightly differently then just pulling the power cord.
With the printer on, remove the USB cable, if in use, from the printer; I'll often remove this cable from the computer, as well. Open the front door of the printer and remove the ink cartridges. Remove the power cord from the back of the printer. Disconnect the other end of the power cord from the outlet. Wait at least 60 seconds. Plug the power cord into the wall outlet and then into the printer. Turn on the printer if it didn't come on. Wait until the printer warms up and then reinsert the ink cartridges. Make sure that the protective tape was removed from the cartridges. Close the access door and print a calibration page if you see a prompt for one. Scan this page.
Try to install the printer software and connect the USB cable to the computer and the printer when prompted to (if you are using the USB cable).
If the error returns, contact HP. A brand new printer will be covered by their warranty. (Depending on where/when you purchased the printer, you may be able to return it to the store for an exchange. This will depend on the vendor.)
