Can't you cut the hose so it is even across, and level? Reaffix the hose to the steamer portion. Just remove the old attached hose from the end of the handle, clean it and reaffix the freshly cut end into the handle once again.
It's not possible to loosen the belts of your Tobi?In this case you may need a repair of the quick-adjuster (the part where the buckle is attached to) or it may be appropriate to exchange the quick-adjuster. Because this part is directly affecting the safety of the seat I would advise you not to try to repair it yourself; please visit a Maxi Cosi dealer to have it serviced. I hope this helps. We had the same problem but discovered it was because the steam hose had come adrift from it's fitting inside the handle. Dismantling the handle, re-attach the hose, re-assemble the handle and use some tie grips to hold the very poor design together and the problem was solved.
When I use mine I hang the hand held part from my closet door, while I am waiting for it to heat up. When the hose gets too much condensation, from the steam, it leaks out... This will also happen if you try to use in the motion of an iron. The hand held part needs to be at a vertical position at all time to prevent leaking.
I bought this model from Costco and followed the instructions and tried using the picture on the box. You may have trouble, or at least be confused, if you try to attach like the picture on the package because the hose in the box is not exactly as pictured. The hose you get does not have that extra ribbed part around the end that attaches to the console. Therefore try the other end and you should be able to attach. Once you figure that out make sure you "lock" the hose into place. If not steam will escape from the loose installation and may scald you if you reach down.
