Question about Canon DR-7580

You can turn off staple detection in the scanning software "scanner settings"...generally a check box. You can adjust many things there: scanner settings>more>filter has most scanner settings.
Or you can adjust the staple detection sensitivity per my previously posted instructions:

If a stapled paper goes through the scanner, one sheet gets lifted and blocks the light between the sensors. (Sensors that are located on the sides, just above the tray). The scanner assumes there is a stapler. If the sensor is blocked because of dust, the scanner assumes there are staples. Just clean them with a brush.

Try cleaning the staple detection sensors in the machine. Most of the time if you blow air gently into the machine to clear dust from the sensors.
