Retrieval of precious photos on my flashtrax xt

Hi there,
Im currently doing a round the world trip and have camera equipment with me including the smartdisk flashtrax xt 40gb portable hard drive. I dropped it from a small height and it has decided to clear EVERYTHING on the hard drive. nearly 2 years of photo's but more importantly, all the photos so far of my rtw trip. It is essential that I retrieve these pictures. I can't accept that they are gone for good as I know you can retrieve files on a memory card. It does still turn on but there is nothing inside.
im off to Australia in 2 days so if there is anyone that you know who can fix such an item, it would really help. Im not sure what to do now

please help
chris

How to recover deleted photos?

Simply put, chances of recovery can be high as long as you act as soon as possible and stop using the Samsung digital camera to take more photos or videos, also keep the camera memory card in good shape (no physical damage).

Then you can rely on a digital camera data recovery software to get the job done and retrieve your photos. Here shows a list of good ones (for PC/Mac) http://www.digital-camera-recovery.com/

You'll need to connect the camera (mass memory card) to your computer. Then install the program to start scan & recover your files. Should be easy to get back your lost memories!

Try using a separate card reader to download the pictures to a folder you create on your desktop. If that doesn't work, find a store (Walmart for example) that has a Kodak picture maker machine. Insert the card and all the pictures should show up. You have the option to print them or even make a cd of them.

Cannot view pictures taken when battery dies while shooting

I\'m surprised; I\'d expect your camera to have an effective and safe auto shutdown process in the event of a low battery.

It\'s possible that the sudden shutdown has ocurred during a write to your media card, this can cause file system and data corruption.

I\'m not familiar with the camera you are using but if you are satisfied you have followed any advice present in the camera manual regarding the situation, it\'s worth trying a third party data recovery application designed specifically for salvaging image data from corrupt media.

There are an abundance of utilities that attempt toserve the purpose, some are freeware, others are shareware or completely commercial.
