This is Canon PC310 personal copier. When it starts, it's making some noise sounding like paper grinding a bit, and orange light blink for about 5 seconds, and power itself is down. So it does nothing now....

Hello sunny,
I'm not being rude or critical, but with the limited information I've been given I can merely give a "best guess". The "rustling of paper" sound or "grinding of paper" sound is probably the fixing assembly. The fixing assembly uses heat and pressure to bond the toner to the paper. Without going into more details than necessary the fixing assembly can both make that sound AND because of the extreme temperature it uses, any malfunction will cause the copier to turn off for your safety. Fire is not good ! I just made a quick surf across the web. You did not pay as much for the copier as it will cost to have it fixed. You bought a GOOD personal copier from a GOOD company. But all things have a lifespan. I'm just giving you my honest opinion. And I could be wrong. It won't be the first time somone spent 23 years in a career and still was a fool. I wish you well. SPINAL

From what I remember about this copier.... That code has to do with the Main Drive Motor. The solution was to replaced the two plastic gears that drive the fuser or clean the shafts. The main motor is in the front of the copier above the fuser. The 2 gears are on the fuser unit when you have it out, it could also be a ball bearing is not turning.... Good Luck

Gear grinding noise when copier operating

wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be a toner cartridge. Have you had to replace it sine the noise began? Is it remanufactured / compatible? I won't be surprised if the grinding stops once it's replaced. Just my 2 cents.
