DVD Writer Model SH-S223 dont read

Hi firma,

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but check ou tthis link to the SH -S223F firmware:

I also found this:
This optical drive is a Plug 'n Play device in Windows OS's. The only requirement is connection to a WORKING SATA controller. Check in Device Manager to insure the sata controller is working/enabled and you shouldn't have any problem. Windows will auto-detect / auto-install the drive without user intervention once this condition has been met.

Additionally, you will need 3rd. party recording and dvd decoding software in order to use all the functions this drive was built to perform, ie: play dvd movie disks and record to dvd and cd-rw disks. Windows is sorta limited on what all it will support.... that's the reason for the additional 3rd. party software like Nero or Roxio and PowerDVD or WinDVD.

Here is a link to InfraRecorder:

Hope this helps, let me know how you made out in a comment, if you need more help, feel free to ask in the comment.

My dvd rw drive cant read dvd disc.when i insert the dvd disc in,nothing happen.

1. make sure you have a software player for DVD's not all computers have them installed

if you have a player like powerdvd, windvd ect try cleaning the drive with a dvd cleaning kit you can buy these at best buy, radio shack, if that still does not work you might have a bad drive and thus a new one needs to be purchased. let me know ether way if you got any questions otherwise please leave feedback and ratings thanks

Windows XP requires you to install a separate MPEG2 decoder. This mean that you need a program like Cyberlink's PowerDVD or Intervideo's WinDVD. All laptops would have come with this, and and DVD drive also comes with this software.

For DVD drives, no special driver software is required. The drives will work with generic drivers provided with all standard operating systems out of the box.

However, DVD movie playing is *not* done by a driver, it requires an application installed on the PC.

For Windows, AFAIR only Windows 7 can play DVD movies out of the box, using Windows Media Center.

All other versions of Windows require a commercial or free player program, e.g. WinDVD (Corel) or PowerDVD (Intervideo) or VLC (VideoLAN, free).

For burning data or movie DVD, also an application program is needed. Windows Vista and later have some limited support for ISO and UDF files systems written to DVDs. Personally, I like CDBurnerXP for data, and Slysoft's CloneDVD / AnyDVD combo for video.

What do i need to use my intervideo windvd creator software on my windows vista lap top. I was using it on widows xp. thank you

Find Serial# and Model# of your burner off of the TOP of the burner. Go to Plextor website, when you get to the website, Look for "Updates" or "downloads" and find the Model# update page for your Image Drive. Now, look-up your Model and download any updates for the burner. Some Manuf. have a software program they want you to download first, then you open that in your Desktop, while online, then it will have you type in the serial# and Model# from there, which it will do from then on.

Dvd drive missing

Check for the DVD drive in your Device manager in System Properties and enable it.

Refreshing the Device manager might help if the driver is removed and the hardware is not disabled.

hmmm, this is unusual, it appears to be an incompatibility with the DVD software, as everything else seems to work may I suggest that you upgrade your DVD software for a later version.

Did you check the box to make sure that it actually does work with cds also? Some drives are made for only one type of disk.
