So to be clear, the phone works now but does not charge?

Likely corroded the charging connector. Happened to mine when my son dropped my phone in a glass of soda. There is nothing that can really be done short of replacing the phone. My earphone jack went first and then the charging connect finally killed it.

You have voided any warranty you had by getting it wet unless you have Best Buy's protection plan so open it up and see if you can clean the connection. You can try using a Qtip and some rubbing alcohol. The next step is to take it into the store and have them try but they will just open it up and see that its been wet and come to the same conclusion.

Prepare to purchase another phone.

SOURCE: g1 got wet-end button acts like it's stuck & back key doesnt work

call and get it replaced. DONT TELL them about the water. simply state it doesnt make calls and get them to send you a waranty replacement. It is free, but remember to tell them there is no damage to the phone, as long as the white dot is still white and the phone doesnt look physically damaged you are good to go

Does putting your phone in rice work after it fell in water?

Yes, it does! If you have dropped your phone in water, completely submerging your SIM Card and Phone in rice will cause the rice to absorb the water in your phone. Your phone will work after a couple of hours of being in rice.

My phone was submerged in water for about 90 seconds. Will it still work and how long should I wait before trying it?

You should probably wait for a few days to ensure it's completely dry on the inside. I have heard other folks suggest that putting the phone in a bowl of white rice for a few days is a great way to dry it out. The rice will absorb the moisture.

Did the case cover the entire phone or just the sides and back like most?

My phone fell down in water

A good solution to a phone being dropped in water is to take the phone apart as much as you can. Remove the battery and sim card if it has one. Burry the phone and its parts in a bowl of rice (any will do). The rice will absorb all the water from inside the phone and the phone should work like new after a day or so.
Has happened to me several times and only once was the phone actually damaged by the water to the point of having to replace it.
Good luck! :)

My motorola defy got water I took it out and put to dry. it still works but sometimes the screen its unresponsive and moves by it self

first....take the battery out, get a box of rice and leave your phone in the rice for a day or so. It will draw out the moisture. If that doesn't work, you may have to get a new one. I got oil in my phone and it repaired mine so.....it should work for you. Fully submerge it in rice and leave it for longer than a day if it doesn't work completely. do it a few times the better

My wii balance board was submerged under water when my basement flooded. Is there any way it can be saved?

If you haven't turned it on since the accident...it might be possible. Firstly, you will need to try and get all of the water out of it as possible. I've heard that rice helps get water out of cell phones that have been submerged...but for a device that large, it would require a large box and a large bag of rice (a few pounds).

The problem is that if you try to turn it on while it's still wet inside it could cause a short circuit. Avoid turning it on until all the components are dry.

If you want to try the rice trick, find a large box to put the board in, then get a large bag of rice and dump it over the board. Leave it set for a few days. The rice soaks up the moisture. You need enough rice to completely cover the board so it can't be seen at all. I know it sounds silly....but it works with smaller devices.

My lg vu phone fell in a river and it has water inside the screen. im not so much bothered by the screen being a bit messed, but it keeps saying insert smartchip. i put my smartchip in the right way, but...

take out the chip, and the battery and put the entire phone in a pound of dry uncooked rice. leave it for three days. also put the battery into the rice separate from the phone. cover the container with saran wrap or aluminum foil to keep it as air tight as possible.

if you are fortunate by the end of day three the phone will be moisture free.

you can take the battery and the back off the device and place in completely submerged in a bag of white rice and leave it in there for 1 to 2 days this will help absorb the moisture, this should fix it if the water did not damage the circut boards if the water damaged the circut boards then the device is fried

My wife's LG 8550 got wet and now won't power on

If the phone was still on while it got submerged, then you may be out of luck. Had it been off when it was submerged, using the rice trick might have worked. I would try removing the battery, and drying it out some more, but the damage may have already been done. Sorry!
