Question about Car Audio & Video

Open Question

I have a Pixelon car video monitor on my front dash. The screensaver used to be bright blue with the brand name Pixelon in bright orange. My alternator went out and my truck lost power. After it was fixed and up and running again the screensaver now says Lilliput in red with a black back ground. How do I find out how to change that back to how it was? or why it even done this in the first place?

The monitor is probably on protection.

To start unplug monitor from power and from computer and test computer with different monitor to find out if it is monitor or computer fault.

If it is computer fault and no video signal , then test:

  • Video cable.
  • Video adapter on PC (sometimes integrated on motherboard)
  • Motherboard.

If it is monitor fault , then the monitor is on protection.

When on protection you keep having a flashing led on front of the monitor , and monitor turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the Monitor goes on protection there are only two possible causes.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or a broken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , starting the flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then the monitor will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, faulty inverter board, faulty input board, or a fault on LCD Digital Controller board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

Try moving the video cable, and if the cable is not built in, then also try a replacement cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

Bought brand new car audio head unit CQ-RX420W, but no installation instructions. Blue and brown wires, not sure which is for aerial and what the other is for. Can you help?

what you have there is a good panasonic head unit. the solid blue wire is going to be used for an automatic antenna.
Yellow- Constant Power (keeps memory for your clock and presets)
Red-Switched Power (turns your radio on when you turn the key)
Black-Ground
White- Left Front speaker (+)
White w/ black stripe - Left front speaker (-)
Gray - right front speaker (+)
Gray w/ black stripe - Right front speaker (-)
Green- Left Rear Speaker (+)
Green w/ Black stripe Left Rear speaker (-)
Purple - right rear speaker (+)
Purple w/ black stripe - right rear speaker (-)
Blue with white stripe - power out, (commonly used for the amplifier turn on wire, or antenna wire.

you may have orange wires in your harness,
or brown ones. these you dont really need
the orange wires are for your dash board dimming lights
and the brown one is for Tele, Muting.

what kind of car do you have, i can give you the wire harness colors

One of my screens shows the video upside down

It could be that the monitor was installed upside-down; other than that, check the settings on whatever device your feeding video to the screen with- a PC, a DVD player? It might have rotation settings.
