SOURCE: How can I get new windows to open at the left side of the screen?

This is the default behavior for windows when opening a new window when another instance of the application is already running (if multiple instances are allowd to run). I have never seen any kind of information or registry hacks that can override this behavior. If you are just looking at keeping Task Manager visible, you can always use the Options menu in Task Manager and check the Always on Top option. Any new windows opened will appear under the Task Manager.

SOURCE: attempting to view pdf via internet locks up laptop

Open any offline .pdf file with adobe reader and see if it opens OK. If it does then the problem is probably with the browser setup. Please follow these steps to solve this problem:
Close your internet browser windows before proceeding. Uninstall adobe reader 7 completely and restart your computer.
Download the latest version of adobe reader.
Before installing the reader close all internet browser windows (it is important).
Install adobe reader.
Also update your internet browser.

Internet Explorer does not open.

Can you open a different Internet program such as Firefox?

After you hae tried to open IE does its process come up in the process tree of Task Manager?

If not reinstal Explorer as the OS may not be reading the software correctly.

I can not start Internet explorer. I click on the icon and it does not start.

Hey,

1. try to open the windows explorer and in the address bar type the address of any website.

2. right click on the task bar and then choose the option task manager, select the tak processes and then check for instances of the application iexplore. In casse there are multiple, select one and click on end process. repeat the same for all instances

3. In case still inaccessiable, try to restart the computer.

4. If the issue still persists, try uninstalling the application using the control pannel and add remove programs, Add remove windows components.

If the problem still persists, use a different browser

After running a search and clicking on one result the computer freezes. Can't exit IE or close tab. Can open tab but problem still exists. must reboot? help Running OS Vista with IE8

open the task manager by pressing CTRL,ALT and DELETE at the same time and selecting task manager, click the applications tab and select IE8, then click on end process. This will stop the need to reboot.
I have had the exact same problem and now use firefox instead, faster and simpler to use. Plus there are so many addons that you can use for downloading and speeding things up.

"Internet Explorer has has stopped working..."

After installing IE8 on vista I kept getting msg Internet Explorer has stopped working - continually looping thru this message.

Solution for me was.
End IE with task manager - needed to do a couple of times.
Then from control panel -> programs -> manage addons I disabled all add ons and then IE started OK. Then by process of elimination stated enabling add on until failed again.

In my case it was the skype addon that was causing IE to fail. Leaving it disabled has allowed IE8 to function.

I am downloading software with problems

Are you using another browser other than IE? Some other browsers use the IE engine and will trigger this message. Also look at you running processes: Press Ctrl+Alt+Del (in Vista then select Task Manager) When task manager appears Click the Processes Tab, then click the word Description in the 5th coloum at the top of that coloum to sort on description. Scroll down to the "I" and see if you see "Internet Explorer" as a running process IF SO, and you know you have shut down Internet Explorer right click on IE and then select End Process and then answer yes. When All instances of IE are remove from the processes then try to reinstall your software. Let me know if this helped you!

Installing CS3 products

If it still does not work, before running the Installer, press Control + Alt + Delete (delete, not backspace) and then click on Task Manager.
Once in Task Manager, select the "Processes" tab, look up iexplore.exe (NOT explorer.exe), right-click it, then select kill/delete.
Run installer again.
