When we turn on the projector to watch tv there purple spots what to do Thanks Sue

if this is an lcd projector, you can try blowing the area out where the lcd come out of the engine, if it is only dust particles you should see results, you may have to repeat the process to get it perfect, and use de-ionized air if available, this cuts down on static. Next, if that didn't work, your polarizers are probably burnt due to repeatedly shutting the projector down incorrectly. The unit is pretty much shot at this point. the cost of repairs likely will exceed what you paid for it.

Color wheel replacement

good times here--take the front and rear bezels off and remove the top cover. remove the power input board and power supply. next remove the metal shield covering the bottom of the projector to expose the main board. next, cut the ribbbon cable as close as you can to the color wheel. remove the color wheel leaving the cut ribbon behind. Now, carefully set the new color wheel in the general area and tape the new cable to the cut cable. Next pull the cut cable out of the main board paying careful attention to which way the cable was plugged in. Now pull the new cable thru and remove the tape and the old cable, plug it in, install the new colorwheel and put your projector back together with the exception of the front and rear, turn it on and make sure the color wheel spins, if it kind of just jumps, it means you plugged the cable in backwards. also when you test to see if it works, make sure the lamp door is shut so the safety switch is pushed in, otherwise the projector won't light.

Projector keeps cutting off

just in case it is overheating, blow out any dust with canned air and make sure the fans are working. also, keep anything from blocking the vents. if all that is done and it still shuts down, you have a power supply that needs replacing.

I have a DLP Optoma projector. It's a few years old. When my wife and I turn it on, it usually shuts down after about 20 minutes of use. what can we do to solve that?

clean it out. it may be dusty inside. the dust keeps in the heat, and if the projector can't cool down, it cuts the heat source- the lamp. also see if the lamp is close to 2000 hours. it may need replacing.

Sanyo PLC-XF46N projector shuts down before powering up completely

The Fix Ya rep suggested that I try the "Reset" button located next to the Audio out on the side of the projector; this solution proved to be the fix I needed. I was able to get the lamps to warm up and get into the menu to cut back the bulbs/power consumption on start-up, allowing the projector to function for a problem-free 4 hour period Unfortunately, I had the same issue this morning, but the same fix worked again.

Projector overheating and turns off after 20 mins

I have a HP VP6111 projector that works fine on a table top but overheats ( overheating ) when turned upside down and hung from my ceiling. My solution...I went to Circuit City and bought two 80mm computer fans. I also purchased a 12V power supply from Radio Shack. I put one fan on front of my projector and the other on the back of the projector and wired them into the 12V power supply. I mounted both fans with velcro. The front fan pushes air and the rear fan pulls air. The projector now runs fine without shutting off. The fans are 12V and push 34 cubic feet per minute of air. I am very happy with this solution.
